Mamed "The Cannibal" Khalidovic set for Combate debut

Fighter profile of Mamed Khalidovic by Chris Karter

The highly anticipated debut of Mamed "The Cannibal" Khalidovic (17-5-1) is booked and underway.

After becoming one of the most highly sought after free agents on the market, the 28-year-old Mamed Khalidovic signed with the Combate featherweight division earlier this year.

Born in Grozny, Chechnya, he now resides in Poland and reps the Polish flag. He's very mum on why this is, perhaps his family were war refugees or forced to flee the country for reasons he doesn't want to discuss, but we respect his privacy and focus primarily on his MMA career and the resume he's put together.

Under manager PJ Jones and training out of Far-Q Fight Club, Khalidovic has quietly fought his way to the top of the division by putting together a dominant 7 fight winning streak enroute to becoming a triple-champ in the ENIGMA organization. After winning the ENIGMA lightweight title in dominant fashion, Khalidovic made it his quest to drop down to featherweight to take the belt from Northern Ireland's scrappy striker Mickey Cowan (19-9-0), and Khalidovic's side quest for titles didn't stop there. He did the unthinkable for somebody of his stature and 183cm frame. He made the cut to the bantamweight division to smesh a trans-athlete and take Natalia Pisswater's bantamweight championship as well, achieving the triple crown status under the ENIGMA banner.
He could've walked away from the organization right then and there, signing on with the SYN's or Combate's of the world for a big money contract, but he had a promise to ENIGMA owner John Daughtery that he would defend that Lightweight championship one final time, and that's exactly what he did when he took on Tommy Vercetti (13-4-0) and smashed him enroute to a dominant unanimous decision victory.
He's 9-1 in his last 10 fights, and 17-5-1 overall, with his only losses coming by way of the judges decisions. Khalidovic is a pressure style fighter with elite wrestling and a blackbelt in Jiu-Jitsu, he defeats his opponents with precision striking, a nasty clinch game, and classic Russian-Sambo-style grappling.
Perhaps the biggest question fight fans had when Khalidovic signed with Combate was what division the prospect would settle on, and that question has officially been answered now that the Chechen fighter has been booked against Combate featherweight champion "The Belt Collector" Juodasis Vaiduoklis (30-10-1).
Khalidovic has no small task ahead of him as he's set to take on the #1 featherweight in the world. Vaiduoklis has been on a monstrous run ever since he hired Slick Gunderson of the YABAI alliance as his manager and joined The Rubber Guard Emporium. The Lithuanian is riding an 11-fight win streak into his title defense and has a world of momentum behind him after defeating former Combate featherweight champion Li Xiaodong (26-11-0) to capture the belt, and then heading over to Tokyo to compete under the Dynasty MMA banner to dominate everybody's favorite red belt Jesse Pinkman (21-6-0).

This will be Mamed Khalidovic's toughest test to date, and Vegas bookies agree opening Juodasis Vaiduoklis up as a slight -150 favorite. Will "The Cannibal" be able to continue his winning ways and pull off an upset against the current champion? Tune in to Combate 214 to find out!
