DMMA 213 Roos vs Distefano Preview

Event Preview: DMMA 213 Roos vs Distefano

Welcome one, welcome all, it's preview time for the next Dynasty Card. Taking place on the 15th of July at the LA Colosseum, it's a banger of a card headlined by two hard hitting 185ers, Cooper Roos and Eric Distefano.

Main Card

145lbs - Aubrey Grant vs Bam Bam Joshy

A pretty lush fight kicks off our main card, with two recent title contenders going at it in our 145 division. Both fighters have fallen to the grappling of champion Jesse Pinkman in recent times, but otherwise on paper bring well rounded skillsets. Both tend to have a tendency to be quite tactical in their approach, preferring to pepper an opponent with strikes rather than throw single nukes, but there is still some finishing ability in there somewhere! Bam Bam in particular has shown some grappling chops but both are masters at their game of frustrating the shit out of opponents. MMA Math shows Grant beat Dimitri who beat Bam Bam, but we know that sometimes it can go full circle. Expect them to tickle each other in a fast paced affair that will empty their cardio tanks and hopefully your wallets.

145lbs - Dimitri Kersikov vs Jian Zhao

Speaking of Dimitri and MMA math, he's fighting next on the card vs Jian Zhao. The MMA Math says Dimitri beat Bam Bam Joshy who frustrated the shit out of Jian Zhao in a UD in turn. Is this the org owner throwing one of his own guys to the wolves? Maybe, maybe not! It's no secret Jian Zhao usually fights up at 155 and dropped some mass to make the 145 weightcut against Bam Bam, which to date is the only time he's ever fought at 145. With a tough chin and heavy hands traditionally, it remains to be seen whether this more svelte version of Zhao still has his power. With a so-so set of performances since the weight cut, he'll need to find his magic again to deal with one of the Kersikov clan in the shape of Dimitri. 'Lil Dimmy', which he will from now be known as,  is a former title holder that temporarily saw a speedbump in form before manager Dino's latest temporary sabbatical. Now with arch rival Renji Abaral out of the way, he's looking for a signature win here to clear the pathway for why he should be considered for a potential crack at the champ. Could go either way with some fireworks or a drawn out fight that goes to a decision.

265lbs - Deividas Vilkas vs Bleeding Spanner

Moving upwards on the card, we move upwards in weight! Former HW title holder Vilkas is looking for a statement rebound, after his devastating loss to current champ Leonardo Narushima. With the division currently in a state of minor flux with Narushima going down convincingly to Xtreme Black House teammate and journeyman Mauro Okongwu, Vilkas might feel like he has a shot at avenging his loss and wants to get back in that picture ASAP. Standing in his way is cult figure Bleeding Spanner, who has turned back the clock and put out an emphatic 3 win streak. Spanner has some massive names on his resume and Vlikas will be keen not to just become another W in Spanners' record. Someone will bleed, and someone will get KO'd here. Bet the house on it!

Co-MAIN - 170lbs - Gustav Harakka vs Itchy Sinclair

Our co-main for the evening sees former 170 champion Gustav Harakka take on the newly signed Itchy Sinclair. Harakka comes with an impressive record in DMMA, though unfortunately has recently seen a bit of a form skid, running into an absolute killer's row that saw him face former champ Get Wet About Don, current dual DMMA and Combate champ and #1 ranked WW Kronos Doomsday, and also former DMMA title challenger and ACA Champ Raphael Ambrosius Costeau. The KO artist has never been finished and will be looking to rebound against the Benjamin Button of MMA Tycoon, Itchy Sinclair. This former SPPS favourite brings a really well rounded game full of different finishes, and was known for mysteriously remaining a mere 18 years of age in physical appearance for many years, despite racking up training and fight experience. It wasn't until a controversial draw against A. Mere Con at SPPS 200 that saw an official complaint put in and Itchy Sinclair was subsequently banned from using his secret genetic altering substances. In a matter of days Sinclair would see his 18 year old physical appearance warp into a more age-appropriate 31 year old body and has since aged gracefully like all other tycoon fighters. This kind of substance abuse and cheating is highly encouraged in SPPS, but given Sinclair has chosen to go on the straight and narrow, he is now plying his trade here in DMMA - where we PRETEND to be legit!

MAIN EVENT - 185lbs - Cooper Roos vs Eric Distefano

Everyone's favourite bald red head (???) South African at 185, Cooper Roos, headlines the card against KO artist Eric Distefano. Whatever the result, we all know this fight is ending within the distance. Both fighters possess levels of KO power that put them in the higher echelons of the world and will be swangin and bangin all day long until one drops. This matchup might come as a bit of a surprise to some given that Roos has fought for the belt, but the popular Distefano has quietly etched out 4 wins in his last 5. In a division currently ruled by his teammate, Zachary Klimenko, Roos remains game for any challenge that his favourite organisation can throw at him and Distefano definitely provides a fresh look at his game. Distefano is physically the slightly smaller reach, but Roos has shown willingness to engage in the clinch so it'll be interesting to see whether the fight stays at distance or gets done in the trenches. Can Distefano find that KO punch or will Roos chomp on him like a boerwors?
