Real Swedish Viking Ready For Redemption

Fighter profile of Gunnar Bloodaxe by Chris Karter

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Gunnar Bloodaxe, a 21-9-1 MMA fighter, has showcased his skills in the WVT lightweight division. With a training base in New York's prestigious Blacktalians MMA gym, Bloodaxe's journey from his Nordic roots to international acclaim has been nothing short of inspiring for young would-be Vikings all over Scandanavia.

Since the Wolfpack loyalist signed with WVT, Gunnar Bloodaxe has been a top presense in the division. His record of 9 wins and 4 losses within the organization speaks volumes to his resume. Particularly impressive, he boasts an impressive 8-2 record in his last 10 fights. This string of victories has paved the way for his long-awaited shot at redemption and championship gold.

Bloodaxe's most recent triumph at WVT 138 was nothing short of spectacular. He delivered a thunderous knockout blow that silenced the doubters and showcased his striking prowess. His opponent, former champion Eduardo Corassa, was considered one of the toughest challenges Bloodaxe had faced. However, the Swedish fighter's "Viking Power" proved to be the difference-maker as he secured victory in emphatic fashion.

"I'm a real Swedish Viking," Gunnar tells media at the WVT 138 post-fight presser. "Opponents can't handle real Swedish viking power. My ancestors didn't earn the moniker Bloodaxe because they threw pillow fists. My strikes hit harder than Thor's hammer."

Bloodaxe is riding his momentum into a rematch against the reigning face of WVT and division champion, Ryoto "War Machine" Takahashi (27-8-0). Their first encounter at WVT 127 ended in disappointment for Bloodaxe, as he succumbed to a rear-naked choke submission with a mere 4 seconds remaining in the fourth round. However, true champions are forged in the fires of adversity. Bloodaxe's growth and relentless training have transformed him into a much more formidable opponent, ready to claim redemption and rewrite history.

"Who is he?" Ryoto Takahashi said sardonically when asked about possibly fighting Gunnar Bloodaxe again, "Nobody knows these guys. I have to sherdog my opponents (in WVT) to figure out who they are."

Gunnar Bloodaxe steps into the spotlight once again, on the cusp of a championship opportunity. His story serves as a reminder that setbacks are merely setups for comebacks. Squirrely Dan and the halls of Blacktalians MMA have produced a true Viking warrior, one who's ready to leave his mark on the sport by upsetting the #1 Lightweight in the world. Will he succeed? Probably not, Takahashi comes from a camp of killers at Convicted Fight Club, but that didn't stop us from writing this article.
