Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Get ready for an explosive night of MMA action as Combate 223 brings forth an electrifying event featuring a highly anticipated rematch between the current Heavyweight Champion, Mike Haggar, and former champion, Andrei Kersikov. The event promises to be a thrilling showcase of raw power and man-on-man action as these two heavyweight warriors step back into the cage.

Main Event: Heavyweight Championship Rematch

Mike Haggar (36-23-0) vs. Andrei Kersikov (20-5-0)

In the main event of the evening, the reigning Heavyweight Champion, Mike Haggar, will clash once again with Andrei Kersikov, the same man he took the title from back at Combate 212. This rematch carries the weight of history and vengeance, making it a must-watch for MMA fans worldwide and Kersikov's camp was more than ready to step back in there with their former foe.

Haggar, a BJJ black belt, known for his elite grappling prowess and relentless pressure, recently faced a setback when he went up against the formidable #1 P4P fighter and Heavyweight kingpin, Kilo "Bloodbath" Maluga (65-14-0). Despite Haggar's impressive 7-fight win streak, he was unable to overcome Maluga's striking dominance. Now, he stands at a crossroads, seeking to bounce back from his first loss in over a year.

On the other side of the cage, Andrei Kersikov has been on a mission of redemption. After suffering a devastating loss to Haggar in their first encounter, Kersikov made a triumphant return by finishing the hard-hitting Malcolm "El Martillo" Rivera (23-13-0) in the first round via strikes, and then knocking out SPPS Heavyweight Champion Noah Anderson. The victory over Noah Anderson not only showcased Kersikov's power but also ignited his desire for payback against the man who dethroned him.

Their first bout saw Haggar stun the MMA world with a shocking first-round TKO victory over Kersikov. It was a fight characterized by Haggar's ability to secure an early takedown and unleash a barrage of ground-and-pound that left Kersikov unable to defend himself. Now, Kersikov has an opportunity to turn the tables and avenge his loss, proving that he has evolved and grown as a fighter, grappling and playing grab-ass with the rest of the Kersikov clan in manager Dean Sutherland's KFA dojo in New York.

The stakes couldn't be higher for both competitors. Haggar aims to reassert his dominance in the heavyweight division and prove that his loss to Maluga was an anomaly. Kersikov, on the other hand, wants to erase the memory of his previous defeat and reclaim the title he once held.

The rest of card is filled with top tier MMA talent, contenders, and former world champions. Combate 223 is guaranteed to be an event that the 21,000 fans at the Redeemerarena in Rio will enjoy.
