Still on the heels of the great SOTF 7, New York’s fastest rising MMA organization(yeah we’re not dropping that anytime soon) Survival of the Fittest, and in association with our merchandise partner Canadian Fighter Clothing (890),proudly presents SOTF 8: Guerrilla Warfare, an event that will be held live from the Hard knocks arena in New York on Friday the 14th of September 2012, and will be headlined by the light-heavyweight bout between Junior Silva and Prime Time. Also on the card 9 other fights, so let’s get our fights recap started:

William Cockburn v Dmitry Petrenko

We kick things off in the lightweight division, where 30 year old English BJJ brown belt William Cockburn takes on 25 year old Canadian Exceptional Muay Thai fighter Dmitry Petrenko in their respective SOTF 2nd appearances. While the English man was off to a great start in his new organization thanks to his win over Ozzy Stanton at SOTF 4 which happened to be his 4th career win with as many coming Via submissions, his Canadian opponent didn’t have the same luck at that event, dropping a submission loss to Julio Silva. But still possessing a great professional record (8-2) and thanks to his well-rounded game, you can count on Petrenko to rebound from his latest loss, only if he can avoid Cockburn’s feared submission attempts

Jackson Williams v Dsdsds Sdsdsd

In the heavyweight division, 24 years old Elite wrestler Jackson Williams has the ability to become one the best in his weight class thanks to his great well-rounded game, and after losing on his SOTF debut against Jackson Thomas, he rebounded well at SOTF 3 with an early KO victory on Micheal Moon and will be looking to keep his momentum going. On the other hand, 34 year old Finnish giant Dsdsds Sdsdsd will be making his promotional debut, and with 15 of 18 of his career wins coming via submission, we all know what’s his favorite way of winning matches, but this time he will be matched with a fellow BJJ brown belt in Williams. So will the young lion prevail? Or will it one more win for the veteran?

Frank Mir v Andouh Andouh

Also in the heavyweight division, 24 year old strong wrestler and BJJ purple belt and Nevada’s own Frank Mir will be fighting to the second time for the organization after submitting James Rivera at SOTF 4. Meanwhile 23 year old BJJ brown belt Andouh Andouh is already a feared name in the heavyweight division, having won both of his professional fights via first round submission at SOTF 2 and SOTF 4. While Andouh is the better grappler, Mir is the more experienced and more well-rounded fighter of the two, and will hoping to give his opponent his first career loss

Gus Shamrock v Mark Calahan

In the light-heavyweight division, we have a classical ‘’wrestling vs BJJ’’ battle. 25 year old Greek BJJ purple belt Gus Shamrock will be making his SOTF debut after winning his first professional fight. Welcoming him to his new home will be the 21 year old wonderful Canadian wrestler Mark Calahan who won the decision in his own SOTF debut against Ron Kelly. Shamrock could have a small advantage on the feet, but with both guys being more comfortable on the ground,  don’t hold your breath for a striking brawl, but except to see a great ground battle that won’t disappoint

 Roy Brown v Dominick Silvic

We move down to the welterweights, where 30 year old Canadian superb wrestler and BJJ purple belt Roy Brown, welcomes 23 year old strong wrestler and Muay Thai fighter Dominick Silvic to his new organization. After dropping a decision loss to Hugh Mathews at SOTF 2, Brown rebounded well at SOTF 4 by earning his 10th career submission win and will look to keep his momentum going, but Silvic on the other hand will try to utilize his Muay Thai in order to pull off the upset put his career back on track after 4 straight losses.

Henry Ballard v Duck Sweeney

In the middleweight division, 19 year old strong wrestler and Charleston’s own Henry Ballard is hoping to keep climbing the 185 ladder after submitting Max Henderson in his SOTF debut when he takes a very tough and determined fighter in Auckland’s own Duck Sweeney who recently earned his first career victory at SOTF 4. Will Ballard’s wrestling be too much for his opponent to handle, or has Sweeney finally found his winning recipe?

 Adam Beaudreaux v Vincenzo Calliente

Back to the welterweights folks.23 year old Cambodian sensational boxer and BJJ brown belt Adam Beaudreaux will be making his promotional debut looking to take the division by storm. But in his way will be 33 year old well-rounded fighter Vicenzo Calliente who is enjoying a renaissance here in SOTF, going 3-0 in the organization. Beaudreaux who got all of his 7 career wins via (T)KO is a striker to be feared, which means that Calliente will probably have to rely on his superior wrestilng, but with his opponent being a great grappler as well this could also turn out to be a bad idea

Ippo Makunouchi  v Hermanni Holopainen

Time to go back to the heavyweight division again where two BJJ purple belts will battle it out in their respective SOTF debuts. 32 year old Polish wonderful boxer and wrestler Ippo Makunouchi is a true knockout artist with 12 of his 13 professional wins coming via (T)KO. On the other side of the cage will be 24 year old wonderful Muay Thai fighter Hermanni Holopainen who already gathered 6 (T)KO victories in his young career. So the big question remains which one of these two warriors will fall down first?

Aima Hei v Dick Tanner

In our co-main event of the evening, two of the best light-heavyweights in the world will collide in their respective SOTF debuts. It’s our pleasure to introduce to you the reigning ACME - Brutal FC super-heavyweight champion Aima Hei, the 29 year old dutch fighter is a greatly well-rounded fighter, possessing sensational boxing and wrestling and being a BJJ brown belt, and is currently riding a 5 fight winning streak. Meanwhile his opponent is non-other New Orleans’ own Dick Tanner, the 26 year old fighter is an exceptional wrestler and Muay Thai fighter, and just like his opponent, is a BJJ brown belt, and after suffering from his first career loss in his last bout, he will be looking to bounce back and regain the form that made him win his first 11career fights with 7 via (T)KO.

 Prime Time v Junior Silva

And no it’s time for our main event! Another two elite light-heavyweights will battle it out in a 5-round fight. The former HWP heavyweight champion, Prime Time, finally returns to 205.The 31 year old American fighter is an elite wrestler who also has 12 (T)KO wins to his name, which is a terrifying combination. On the other corner, will be another former champion, the 24 year old Brazilian exceptional wrestler and BJJ red belt, Junior Silva, is the former  Boomerang light-heavyweight champion, and if his opponent is a TKO specialist, then this guy is one the best submission artists on the planet, which is demonstrated by 9 of 14 career victories that came via submission. So which former champion will reign supreme on Friday night? The wrestler or the grappler?
