Goodman Vs Stan and Ford vs Ewing

Editorial by Sixty Nine

At Strike! MMA 3 last night we had 2 Fireballer camp fights happening. Sub Stan VS Milton Goodman, and Oliver Ewing vs Kareem Ford.

After Goodman was thoroughly embarrassed by a quick submission in their first fight, Goodman was out for revenge. He trained up his striking, and intended to use it. But he might have wanted to train up his takedown defense first, as Stan took him down with the first move of the fight. Neither of them did much though, and Stan ended up taking the round. Goodman landed 2 strikes in round 2 before being taken down again, including a spinning back fist, but this time those 2 strikes led Goodman to win the round, because Stan took a nap for 5 minutes while on top. Going into a decisive round 3, both fighters wanted to dominate the round. Goodman landed a few strikes, then when they went to the ground worked some ground and pound. He ended up getting the decision but it was an awful fight, and likely neither of these fighters will survive training camp.

The next fight was a lot better, with new addition to the camp Kareem Ford making his debut against the iron fisted Oliver Ewing. Last fight Ewing lost after being taken down and ground and pounded, so many assumed Ford would also take him down and submit him. But it didn't seem like Ford was that interested in the ground, because when the fight started, Ewing tried to clinch twice, but failed. Two bad punches from Ford ended up being countered by wrong right hands. Ford was even cut with one of them. Then, Ewing went for a three punch combo, the first 2 of which he missed. But his third punch was a right hook to the temple, and it knocked Ford out cold. Ewing showed his class in his fight and with the power in his hands, he'll most likely make it out of camp. The future is less certain for Ford, who has potential, but with Stan and Goodman disappointing he might be the best sub specialist left in camp.

Tune in for the last fight of week 2, Maluga Vs Rowland 2. Week 3, the last week will feature Ming vs Ewing, and Ford vs Gilmore.
