There are no easy fights in the SYN.
Just ask the current welterweight champion Tagnarach Kamara, an Irish-native with a wealth of experience against some of MMA's biggest names such as Joad Cressbeckler, Julius Lew, Jakob Rolf, Cormac McCarty, and Diego Macaco - who Kamara welcomed to the promotion's welterweight division at SYN 1071 and stunned the world with a 5 second knockout in his title unification bout with the former Horizon MMA Welterweight champion.
Kamara knows how it feels to lose your debut and lose momentum. After starting his career 17-0, he signed with SYN and dropped a few fights in a row that saw him slide down many spots in the rankings.
"I was supposed to be taking a fight at 170 against a pretty big name opponent, but they say he wasn't able to fight till next year," Kamara said at SYN 1076 media day. "So I was like, 'Damn, that's a long time.' They're like, 'Bro, it's only an extra month.' And I'm like, 'No, it's too long.' I have a warboner that's rock hard and I'm ready to rock right now."
Kamara revealed SYN brass had pitched him a welterweight fight with GAMMA Champion but the GAMMA brass were quivering in their britches, so after growing impatient, Kamara took a fight with another SYN newcomer instead.
"I got this [next fight], I'm happy with it. I hear Cormac's being a bit of a sour puss. So maybe I'll smash his face after I defend this strap then, yeah?" Kamara said to the media.
"The Poet" Benjamin Noeigati (21-9-1 MMA) is a former welterweight title holder at Horizon MMA. Fighting ranked contenders is a new challenge for the Canadian. A step down in competition or a "tune-up" fight wouldn't be the worst idea in the world for SYN debut, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards based on his latest booking against Kamara.
"No, I'm not surprised he accepted this fight," Kamara said, when asked if he was surprised his open answered the call. "I think the entire world expects me to smoke him. Smoke him like a big ass joint at Marley fest. It should be easy money, but you can't overlook no man. I made that mistake in my first few fights here."
