The fight journey of Tarzan

Fighter profile of John Clayton Il by Mr. Nobody

Reporter: John, you’ve been away for a while. How did you spend that time, and what were your main focuses?

John Clayton II: That break was crucial for me. After my loss to Max Von Meyer, I needed to reevaluate and work on my weaknesses. I focused a lot on my ground game and strategy. It wasn’t just about physical improvement—it was mental too. Now, I’m back and stronger.

Reporter: Let’s talk about your first fight in the tournament. You dominated Chumba Brudda in just 45 seconds. How did that fight feel for you?

John Clayton II: That fight was perfect for me. I landed every strike and felt in total control. It was the ideal debut, but I knew the real challenges were yet to come.

Reporter: Then came your loss to Max Von Meyer. How did that defeat impact you?

John Clayton II: That was a humbling moment. Max got the better of me in the clinch, and it showed me the areas I needed to improve. It was tough, but losing is a great teacher. I’ve been working on my deficiencies ever since.

Reporter: You bounced back by submitting "The Crusader" Saint George with an Americana. Your first submission win—what made that fight different?

John Clayton II: Saint George was a tough opponent, and I knew I had to prove I’m more than just a striker. I wanted to dominate in every aspect—stand-up, clinch, and ground. When the opportunity came, I took it, and locking in that Americana was a moment that showed how much I’ve grown.

Reporter: Now you’re preparing for Pira Nha, known for his striking. How do you plan to approach this fight?

John Clayton II: Pira Nha is a dangerous striker, especially with his Muay Thai. But I’m ready. My plan is to fight smart, avoid his strengths, and impose my own game. It’s about controlling the pace and not letting him dictate the fight.

Reporter: If you win, is a rematch with Max Von Meyer on your mind?

John Clayton II: Absolutely. That rematch is personal for me. I need to see how much we’ve both grown since that fight. It’s about redemption and proving to myself that I’m a better fighter now.

Reporter: What about Kuju Da Silva, the winner of the tournament?

John Clayton II: Kuju is a great fighter, and of course, I’m keeping an eye on him. But my focus is on Pira Nha right now. After that, I’d love to test myself against Kuju in the future.

Reporter: How do you feel being part of Honu Fight Arts?

John Clayton II: I’m really happy with Honu Fight Arts. They treat me well, and the organization is top-notch. My goal is to become their champion, and I’m working hard every day to make that happen.

Reporter: Thanks for your time, John. Best of luck in your upcoming fight!

John Clayton II: Thank you!
