Pride Of Mexico

Fighter profile of Santiago Santos by Darren Russell

Today we introduce you to the next big thing coming out of Sonora, Mexico, and his name is Santiago Santos. He has a record of 14 wins 3 losses and 12 of those wins have come by way of knockout. The 200 cm 260 lb Mexican behemoth wears his pride on his sleeve, or in this case his chest ("Brown Pride" is tattooed across his upper torso), heading into every one of his matches.

The 29 year old Heavyweight fighter out of Mexican has gone from prospect to contender in the Combate Heavyweight division. Since starting his career 2-2, he's 12-1 in his last 13 bouts with his only loss coming by way of submission to Dave Handerson, a current competitor for the Combate Heavyweight title. If Santiago Santos keeps knocking out opponents in the fashion he has been, no doubt we will see a rematch between these two young superstars.

Undefeated since joining Combate from the RFL, Santiago Santos has laid waste to his opponents, scorching the Earth with all but one of them in the very 1st round. Former Heavyweight Champion Billy "The Bulldozer" Blank managed to survive being knocked down twice in the 1st round before Santiago turned it on in the second round, going full Sea-Level Cain, and absolutely pulverized his 225 cm opponent with clinch strikes in 0:29 seconds of the 2nd round.

It has been a rather impressive display of violence and dominance since he signed with the premier organization in the world and the typically xenophobic Brazilian fans are really starting to embrace him despite his Aztec-Mexican heritage. Word on the street is that Santos is facing Dave Handerson's teammate next, a striker by the name of Tiff Sanford, whose also been making a name for himself in the Combate Heavyweight division. Whoever wins their upcoming matchup is surely to be in the ownership's good graces and propping themselves up for a serious run at the Heavyweight belt.
