After our greatly successful debut on PPV at SOTF 8, New York’s fastest rising MMA organization, Survival of the Fittest, in association with our merchandise partners, Canadian Fighter Clothing , proudly presents SOTF 9: The Goodfellas, an event that will take place in the Liberty Dome arena on Saturday the 22nd of September 2012, and will be broadcasted to you live on Pay Per View. This event will be headlined by the light-heavyweight bout between Charlie Luciano and Elliot Saunders, and will also feature 9 other exiting fights. So let’s take a closer look at each of the 10 bouts:
Ron Kelly v Sam Grumpky
We kick things off with a light-heavyweight bout, where two young fighters will be hoping to get their first SOTF win. After loosing his promotional debut in a bout that earned him the ‘’fight of the night’’ bonus at SOTF 4, 22 year old respectable boxer Ron Kelly is hoping to bounce back and prove that he is more than just an entertaining brawler. Meanwhile, 25 year old competent boxer and Muay Thai fighter Sam Grumpky is making his SOTF debut and is searching for his first career victory. This could be anyone’s fight on the feet, but Kelly could decide to take the fight to the mat, as he looks to be the superior wrestler of the two
Chris Adams v Jason Easton
And we move down to the lightweight division, where two exiting small fighters will battle it out for 5 rounds. After winning his promotional debut at SOTF 7, 24 year old wonderful Muay Thai fighter returns to the cage and will be hoping to keep climbing the 155 ladder with another impressive win. His opponent however is a little more mysterious this time having yet to make his MMA debut. 25 year old wonderful boxer Jason Easton is still a relatively unknown fighter, but will be looking to make everyone remember his name by the end of Saturday night. With both fighters being specialist strikers, this bout could set itself as an early contender for the’’ fight of the night’’ award.
Bruce Raffinski v Angel Rivera
In the welterweight division, 25 year old wonderful Muay Thai fighter and New Jersey’s own Bruce Raffinski will be making his SOTF debut after getting an early knockout victory in his professional debut. Welcoming him to his new home will be 28 year old Armenian proficient boxer and wrestler Angel Rivera, who won his promotional debut against Scott Donovan at SOTF 3, before suffering a setback against Derrick Gordon at SOTF 5. While Raffianki seems to be the more vicious striker, Rivera will have the advantage on the ground thanks to his superior wrestling.
Chickin Lickin v JerJer Foley
Back to the light-heavyweight division, where two young fighters with 1-0 MMA records will collide in their respective SOTF debuts. 25 year old Nepalese remarkable boxer Chickin Lickin is not someone who you want to stand and trade punches with, especially if you are JerJer Foley, as the 21 year old strong wrestler is someone who lacks the striking skills. But make no mistake about it, if Foley can get the takedowns and take the fight to the mat then Lickin will find himself in a world of troubles.
Tigr Komnatnyi v Jimmy Sisphar
And now it’s time for some action in the middleweight division where two young fighters will be making their respective promotional debuts. 22 year old BJJ brown Tigr Komnatyi is a real submission artist,as the UAE native got all of his three career wins via various submission moves. On the other hand, his 24 year old opponent is a wonderful Muay Thai fighter, which is the least you can expect from the man who was born and raised in Thailand, and his striking skills are well documented in 3 of 4 of his career wins that came via TKOs. So in a real stylistical battle, who will prove to be the superior fighter? The grappler or the striker?
Stan Rosberg v Jagger Raffinski
On a card full of Light-heavyweight battles, two young men with very impressive records will collide. 23 year old Russian superb Muay Thai fighter and proficient wrestler Stan Rosberg already made a huge impact here in the organization, winning his first two fights at SOTF 3 and SOTF 5 with early (T)KOs thanks his devastating knees. But now he faces a tougher challenge in undefeated 25 year old Hungarian BJJ brown belt Jagger Raffinski who will be making his SOTF debut after submitting his first four career opponent with various moves. Rosberg is definitely the more well-rounded fighter of the two since his opponent doesn’t have any striking skills, but if Raffinski can turn this one into a grappling battl , then it is hard to see how would Rosberg be able to escape this one.
Howard Moon v Marby Arcade
Time for some heavyweight action folks, two knockout artists will collide in their respective SOTF debuts. 28 year old English fighter Howard Moon possesses an incredible well-rounded game, but it’s not a secret that boxing is his favorite weapon, since he got 11 of 16 professional wins via (T)KOs. On the opposing corner will be 25 year old Philippino elite boxer Marby Arcade who made 7 of his 11 career opponents suffer from the power of his fists. In a battle that has ‘’knockout of the night’’ award written all over it, the question remains, who will fall down first?
Grammur Natzee v Richard Teixeira
For the first time in SOTF history, we have a featherweight bout on the card, and to make it even more special, two champions at 145 will battle it out for five rounds. 27 year old danish sensational boxer and wrestler Grammur Natzee is the forme KFC featherweight champion and is known for his vicious (T)KO victories, as illustrated by 14 of his 19 professional wins. Meanwhile his 27 year old american opponent Richard Teixeira is the current Blitz welterweight champion and also held the TTFC bantmweight championship in the past, and just like Natzee, he is a sensational wrestler and boxer and a BJJ purple belt. Betting on the winner for this one will be a very dangerous bet in both cases, but you can bet on your life that this one will be a heck of a fight.
Eugene Bradley Burns v Jose Duran
In our co-main event of the evening, we have a battle of two light-heavyweight champions. SOTF welcomes back the 31 year old Canadian exceptional wrestler and BJJ brown belt Eugene Bradley Burns, who is the reigning CFL light-heavyweight champion, and also won a number of others championships in the past in his hall of fame worthy career. On the opposing side of the cage will be 23 year old exceptional boxer and Muay Thai fighter Jose Duran, who is the former NAF light-heavyweight champion. While Duran will be making his SOTF debut, Burns already fought once for the organization, earning the ‘’submission of the night’’ award for his win against Julian Casablancas at SOTF 3.
Charlie Luciano v Elliot Saunders
In a night that features many champions, it is only normal that the main event consists of two more champions. New York’s own 27 year old elite striker and BJJ brown belt Charlie Luciano is the reigning AD middleweight champion, and possessing one of the best well-rounded games that you will ever find, he is a dangerous man wherever the fight goes, but based on his record he prefers to stand and trade punches and knockout his opponents. Which would be a great strategy for this one, since he is fighting an elite wrestler and fellow BJJ brown belt in 31 year old French fighter and reigning AD light-heavyweight champion Elliot Saunders. In a true super-fight atmosphere between the two reigning AD champions, who will prove to be the better fighter? The younger striker or the veteran wrestler?
