IT'S DI GANJA ONCE AGAIN!!! Oh my god! Why am I so excited? Ganja here folks. I'd like to apologize for how late this recap is, but Ganja had to take care of his girl's needs. By needs I mean pu- wait, I can't say that! I flew my chiseled, well-oiled Jamaican ass down to Rio once again to witness the MMA phenom that is The Wild Den. The fans had no idea what they were in for. Every single fight on the card ended in a KO or Submission, most of them in the first or second round. I've never been to an event were all fighters got finished, and I do say myself it was pretty fucking awesome. Even better than the piss-warm beer they were serving... But never better than the Brazilian women. Mmm, they drive Ganja nuts. Enough of my erotic day-dreaming! You came here for a recap and lucky for you that's what I'm paid to do.

Main Event:

Elvis "The King" Ronan (9-2) Vs. "El Jefe" Hernando Cortez (7-2)

Holy mother of Jamaican Jesus! This fight may have not gone the distance like the others, but this one was one of the best. The long time reigning Middleweight champ, Elvis Ronan, put his title on the line against the promotional newcomer and world class wrestler, Hernando Cortez. Ronan had the obvious striking advantage and would no doubt try to keep the fight standing. The only chance Cortez had was to take the fight the ground, but even then I couldn't see him submitting Ronan. The fight started out in the usual manners all the Middleweight title fights do here at The Wild Den. Ronan was easily landing his heavy punches to the head and his glancing blows to the body. Cortez looked like a bull chasing a matador out there! He relentlessly tried to take the superior striker down but his efforts were quickly tossed aside. I'll give it to the challenger, he ate some hard shots while attempting to take the champ down but it would prove worthless in the end. Then a miracle happened! Cortez got Ronan down! Sadly he didn't do much with his opponent who defended all his advances. The fight was restarted on the feet and Ronan continued his boxing onslaught. Cortez finished the round with a huge takedown but the bell prevented him from taking advantage. The second round  belonged to the champion. Ronan landed his punches seemingly at will, Cortez didn't seem to want to defend them. Ronan continued his attack mid-way through the seconds until he caught Cortez with a huge punch that rocked his head back. Ronan followed up with a monster right-left combo that put Cortez out cold! Talk about a statement.

Elvis Ronan wins via KO (Punches) in 1:38 of round two.

Co-Main Event:

"Thrilling" Barry Badridge (7-4) Vs. Julio Gutierrez (10-7)

I'm not going to lie, those are horrible records. These guys haven't had the most brilliant careers but when the going get's tough, they start throwing punches. Both men were evenly matched, with Gutierrez having the advantage on the ground. Gutierrez was relentless in his attempts to close the distance. He repeatedly clinched and seemed to take Badridge down at will. Gutierrez worked his solid ground throughout the whole first round, but surprisingly couldn't submit his opponent. The second round was painfully similar to the first. Gutierrez clinching like a mad man and trying to land those takedowns. It seemed the grappler wore himself out during the first round, he just didn't have that bounce in his step anymore. Midway through the second, Badridge pushed a sloppy takedown away and countered with his superior stand up. He landed a left-right combo that brought Gutierrez down like a rotting tree! Badridge didn't give his opponent the chance to recover and continue his onslaught on the ground. The ref finally decided to do his job and pulled Badridge of a unconscious Gutierrez.

Barry Badridge wins via TKO (Strikes) in 2:20 of round two.

Main Card:

Kartik "Catdogfrog" Yay (5-3) Vs.  Osss "Osss" Osss (2-0)

Boy, did these two surprise me! I thought they would no doubt be fighting to a decision and end up being booed by the Brazilian fans. These two looked like they had something to prove. Neither man is competent in anything, I'm serious. Yet they still find someway to win, their trainers are doing something right. Yay came out like a mad man at the sound of the bell. He swung those big, wide shots and easily connected to his opponent's jaw. Osss seemed out of it from the start. Yay landed a huge right that sent Osss to the canvas spinning. Yay continued to drop bombs on his stricken for until the red yanked him off. God Damn! Looks like he was trying to get home early!

Kartik Yay wins via TKO (Strikes) in 0:33 of round one.

Ugor Makinwa (2-0) Vs. Jon "Bones" Jones (2-2)

There's nothing like a little old school MMA! The striker vs. the grappler, this brings back memories. Ugly Makinwa is the undefeated phenom from Africa, a fighter we should all keep an eye on. Jon Jones hasn't had the success Makinwa's had but he can fight and fight he did. The fight went just as I though. Jones simply didn't have the chin to stand with Makinwa. They engaged in early striking exchanges, with the younger,  faster fighter getting the better of them. Jones tried a takedown and failed, the man turned into a sandbag after that. Makinwa continued his assault on the grappler, dropping him with a massive right. Makinwa dived into side control and pounded out a TKO victory. Africa! Africa!

Ugor Makinwa wins via TKO (Strikes) in 1:06 of round one.

"Double S" Stanley Steele (0-0) Vs. Somjit "Gold" Boonjumnong (3-5)

First win! It's the thrill of the first kill! Stanley Steele made a successful professional debut agaisn't an older and more experienced opponent. The win itself didn't come easy however. Don't get me wrong, Steele dominated every aspect of the fight but just couldn't get the better of an inferior opponent. Steele dominated the striking, dominated the clinch and simply imposed his will or the first three minutes of the fight. I thought the youngster would grind out a decision but he caught a seconds wind after the interval. He came out ferocious, knocking down his opponent with the first punch he threw. Boonjumnong gathered the will to get back on his feet and the fight went on. Steele didn't let off his aggression though, he continued to batter his opponent for the remainder of the second round. Just when I thought Boonjumnong might make it, he gets clipped with a huge left hook that knocked him out cold. Pretty impressive debut if you ask me!

Stanley Steele wins via KO (Punch) in 2:29 of round two.

"Speedy" Stevie Gonzales (2-0) Vs.  Jay Hendo (3-1)

Stevie Gonzales wins via KO (Punches) in 1:57 of round one.

Pound Ground (1-4) Vs. Anton Solodyhin (2-1)

Pound Ground wins via TKO (Punches) in 2:32 of round one.

Sergio Postiga wins via TKO (Strikes) in 1:10 of round two.

"Third Millenium Gladiator" Doctore Oenomaus (3-3) Vs. Carlos "Santinho" Riviera (1-3)

Doctore Oenomaus wins Submission (Armbar) in 1:24 of round one.

Park Doo Man (6-1) Vs. Gab Contreras (4-2)
