Event Review: TWD 37: Valentine vs Streseman
The Wild Den(150k+)
2012-10-27, Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo Arena
Attendance:5,213, Event Rating:173
Author:Papa Papito

Papito: Good day folks! It's time for another episode of TWD: Inside The Den! You are joined here tonight with your hosts, Tony Kazarian, and Papa Papito.

Kazarian: Tonight's card is filled with great, exciting fights that will surely keep you on your feet.

Papito: Both the main card and the under card is filled with hard-hitting action and I guess it's time to start the previews.

MAIN CARD:

Marcos "Lightning" Silva vs Kaarlo Gustav

Papito: Marcos Silva is an amazing talent, Tony. He utilizes all of his abilities. He can perform as a striker or grappler. He can finish you in a number of ways.

Kazarian: Well, he really is a versatile fighter. You can't survive in the cage nowadays if you're a one-trick pony. Good thing for Silva, he can match-up with anyone.

Papito: His match-up tonight will be a tough one. Kaarlo Gustav is a young gun that can take the featherweight division by storm if he manages to get all things right for him. He's slightly better than Silva, especially on the ground.

Kazarian: Gustav's first fight was a draw against a top caliber fighter in Dois Pra Um, but he managed to pull off a win against him on their second bout. Pretty impressive for a rookie.

Papito: This is a good one and a fantastic opener for a great night. I'll go with the experienced Silva in this one. By Decision.

Kazarian: I'll go with Gustav, by Submission.

Mikko Takatukka vs Rafael "Devil" Pierce

Papito: Takatukka has been cold recently, losing his 2 previous fights by TKO. He is a great striker and wrestler to say the least, a decent ground game with a knock-out power.

Kazarian: The only thing questionable in him is his chin. He got knocked-out cold by 2 top-tier fighters in TWD and Rafael Pierce is his obstacle in this one.

Papito: I definitely agree, he might be the better man on the striking department but he should be careful in this one, Pierce is a great grappler. 7 out of his 8 wins coming from a submission.

Kazarian: Takatukka must not let this go down to the ground, he must finish this ASAP before Pierce gets a chance to shoot for a takedown. Both of them has questionable chin so who do you think will be the one that gets knocked-out or submitted?

Papito: If ever that happens, it will be his nightmare. But I'll go with Takatukka in this one. By KO.

Kazarian: Pierce via Submission.

Jose Maldini vs "The Living Weapon" Sylvain Sauvage

Papito: Well, look at this one. A TWD veteran, Jose Maldini will face-off against the unproven talent, Slyvain Sauvage.

Kazarian: Wow, I've seen his name a number of times and I always read it as Sausage. Whew.

Papito: I feel bad for you man, anyway, Jose Maldini is another grappler and a former Welterweight Champion. He has fought with the toughest guys of the old and the new generations of TWD. He's a grizzled veteran, always willing to fight with almost anyone.

Kazarian: Sauvage has had a rough start here in TWD. Winning only 3 of his 4 fights. He can still get up from this. His career is still young. He can jump start his career by winning and finishing this one.

Papito: I Agree, I think he can do it. But I'll go with Maldini here. By Submission.

Kazarian: Looks like we still have different predictions. Sauvage by KO.

CO-MAIN EVENT

"El Jefe" Hernando Cortez  vs Sergio "Leonidas" Postiga

Papito: Co-main event time guys! It is Hernando Cortez' second fight in TWD after his unsuccessful debut against the former TWD Middleweight Champion. I think he can be a top player here in TWD, how about you Tony?

Kazarian: He sure is a future top-tier fighter here in TWD. He's got all necessary tools but he still has a lot to improve AND to prove.

Papito: He is fighting here against a former title contender, Sergio Postiga. Postiga is a great fighter that has been making quite a noise here in the middleweight division. He is a better striker than Cortez but Cortez has better grappling skills. If he can foil his takedown attempts, Postiga has a great chance to win in this one.

Kazarian: Cortez must take this down to the ground for him to outmatch Postiga. It will be a tough one for sure, but I think he'll pull this one.

Papito: I'll go with Postiga, via KO.

Kazarian: Still different? Hmm. Cortez via Submission.

MAIN EVENT

Phoenix "Zantetsuken" Valentine vs "Great Teacher" Onizuka Stresemann

Papito: It's time for the main event of the evening! The TWD Light Heavyweight Champion, Phoenix Valentine will face-off against his alliance mate, Onizuka Stresemann!

Kazarian: Woah, It will be a tough one for these guys. Their managers are business partners and they will be fighting for the prized gold in the light heavyweight division!

Papito: You've been in that situation before, what was the feeling?

Kazarian: Well, it's tough at first but you have to do what you have to do.

Papito: I see. Valentine started his TWD career as a welterweight, who would've known that he'd flourish at this division? Considering this is 2 divisions higher than his previous division.

Kazarian: His manager knew that he'd be better at this division. He wouldn't want to be a contender wherein his fighter is also the champion.

Papito: Yeah that's right. But wow, you put a lot at stake if you go away from your natural division. But Tom Violence, his manager is a wise one and knew how to pull it off, anyway, Valentine is a great wrestler and very dangerous on the ground. All of his victories came by KO/TKO while his lone loss was from a decision.

Kazarian: He got revenge on that loss by the way. As for Stresemann, He is also a great grappler with decent striking skills. I think Valentine has the edge on the ground, whilst Stresemann has the edge on the stand up department.

Papito: Stresemann is yet to be defeated and he's determined to win the gold in this one. This will be his toughest fight to date. Can he pull it off?

Kazarian: I definitely think he can. He just needs to play the right cards and use his game plan on this one. Stresemann via Submission.

Papito: It looks like we have different picks for all of the main card fights tonight. Valentine via KO.

Papito: That's it folks, see you next time on another episode of TWD: Inside The Den.

Kazarian: I'm your host, Tony Kazarian.

Papito: And yours truly, Papa Papito saying good day folks and have a nice day!
