TWD 38: Jecht vs Obata 2 Preview

Event Preview: TWD 38: Jecht vs Obata 2
The Wild Den(150k+)
2012-11-03, Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo Arena
Author:Papa Papito

Papito: Hello ladies and gentlemen! It's time for another episode of TWD: Inside the Den! Here's your hosts, Papa Papito and Tony Kazarian. The upcoming event will showcase a rematch between two top welterweight fighters. A rematch between Ozumba Obata and Sir Jecht. Actually there's an error here, It is the third match-up between these two. I apologize for not being able to fix the event name here and their previous meeting. Our co-main event will feature a light heavyweight showdown between Travon Clayton and Mauricio Rua, looking to make some noise in the top-tier competition in the light heavyweight division.

Tony Kazarian: Let's get this going!

MAIN CARD

"Senator" Clay Davis vs Tutu Araribe

Papito: Our first match in the main card will be an exciting ground fight! With Clay Davis winning most of his wins by submission (6 of 8 to be exact), he will face Tutu Araribe. With Araribe's brown belt, you would expect he's a submission machine type of fighter, but you got it wrong. He's an good wrestler combined with his remarkable jiu-jitsu skills he's just a match-up nightmare for his opponents on the ground.

Kazarian: Plus he finished all of his fights. 4 by KO, 1 by submission. Interesting fighter. But Davis has more experience so I think he knows what to do in this one. He doesn't have the best record in the organization but he's still a very capable fighter that knows how to play his cards right. Unfortunately, his chin is very questionable. Getting knocked out 9 out of 10 losses. I'll go root for Araribe in this one, his KO power is noticeable. KO win for him.

Papito: Same, Araribe by KO.

"Konka" Ati Kon vs Ugor Makinwa

Papito: Another interesting match-up between two versatile fighters with Makinwa gaining a slight advantage skill-wise.

Kazarian: Man, that Ati Kon guy makes me proud with his slam KO win, albeit he suffered a recent loss against Travon Clayton.

Papito: I agree that Kon has turned some heads on his slam KO win. Very rare to say the least. He's a good all-around guy that can finish on all spots. He's going to have a hard time in Ugor Makinwa.

Kazarian: Makinwa's slightly better than Ati Kon - on paper. But Ati Kon has shown he can finish fights but the pressure is still on Makinwa. He's undefeated and a fight with Ati Kon is very dangerous for his record. However, with his great knock out power, I guess it would be safe to root for Makinwa in this one. By KO.

Papito: I'll also go with a Makinwa knock out victory in this one. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ati Kon pulls off this one.

Palito Gomez vs Zack Dio

Papito: One of my favorite match-ups of the night! Two of the most feared knock out artists facing each other for the first time!

Kazarian: Wow man, with those two guys and their knock out power, I don't think their skills on paper would be a huge factor. The deciding factor is who has the better chin and the better knock out power.

Papito: Considering these two are former title contenders and Dio a former champion, this will be an instant classic. KO of the night perhaps?

Kazarian: Yep, Dio had a tough loss against Oliveira in a rematch in their previous fight. I think he'll be looking to challeng Oliveira someday in a grudge match, eh?

Papito: I'd love to see that happen, anyway, Gomez has not been short of fantastic! He was never knocked out and won all of his fights by KO while Dio has also won all of his fights by KO but he got knocked out once by Oliveira. Do you think we'll be seeing a first knock out loss for Gomez? Or a second knock out loss for Dio?

Kazarian: Man, I'd love to root for both but I'll go with a Dio win in this one. Ofcourse by KO.

Papito: Same here. But I'll suck if it goes to the judges. Dio win by KO.

CO-MAIN EVENT

"Da Bonecrusher" Travon Clayton vs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

Papito: Our co-main event will be a great match-up with two rising stars looking to step up their games. Clayton has been on a 2-win streak while Rua has been on a rampage with 4.

Kazarian: Clayton really is "Da Bonecrusher". He can crush your bones by KO or by twisting your joints. He's a great fighter that is always looking to finish a fight.

Papito: Rua is a slugger! But with his purple belt, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a submission win in this one but Clayton is a surprisingly good wrestler! If he takes Rua down, he might have a chance, it's not always about the color of the belt.

Kazarian: Rua is very dangerous in the clinch, I mean, VERY. Clayton must prevent Rua's clinch game. It will be his worst nightmare. It's tough to call this one Paps.

Papito: I know. It really is. But I'll root for Clayton in this one. By KO.

Kazarian: I'll go with a different route. Rua via KO.

MAIN EVENT

"The Onion Knight" Sir Jecht vs "DJ" Ozuma Obata

Papito: The welterweight champion, Sir Jecht will defend his long-coveted title against the man he won the belt from. His ultimate Rival, Ozuma Obata.

Kazarian: I'm more than thrilled to watch this fight! I know Jecht has won two of their fights but Obata has all the tools to regain the belt. Jecht has held the belt for 6 months! Jecht is a world-class wrestler, an olympian if you must. He's one of the greatest, if not the greatest grappler in TWD. Sporting a record of 9-0 and winning all of them by knock out, who wouldn't be intimidated by this guy? This guy is a beast!

Papito: I definitely agree with your points! He really is a machine. On the other hand, while Jecht is the most feared wrestler in the welterweight division, Obata is the most feared striker in the division! He brutally knocked out bout he won. The only times he lost in TWD is when he fought against the same guy he's facing today. I think Obata has matured enough to know what he needs to do from their previous match-ups. Do you think he has what it takes to become the champion?

Kazarian: He absolutely has all the tools to become a champion, IF he doesn't get taken down. Ground game is his worst nightmare but he's an absolute terror on the stand up department.

Papito: That's where Jecht comes in, If he takes him down, it's where Jecht will shine. Obata is hungry for revenge. We also have a message from Obata's manager. Here it is:

"Ed Soreass: Obata says if he loses to Jecht then he's leaving the 170lb division."

Kazarian: I guess Obata will shine better on other divisions, 185lb perhaps?

Papito: 185lb division would be ideal for him. Obata's hungry for the win. Jecht's not giving a chance for someone to touch his gold. An intense rivalry folks! But I'll root for the champion in this one. By KO.

Kazarian: I'll root for Obata in this one. You can never count out a win-hungry fighter, especially a championship fight. Obata by KO.

Papito: The trilogy ends here. Can't wait to see the fight!

Kazarian: Well we have to wrap it up now! We're on overtime now. We gotta get going.

Papito: Alright folks! That's it for today! We're your hosts! Tony Kazarian and yours truly, Papa Papito saying good day and happy tycooning!
