PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emanoel Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Manliest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manliest has chosen Ontlogy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Emanoel Moreno has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emanoel Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Manliest!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manliest shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Moreno napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Manliest cracks Moreno with a big elbow.

Manliest tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Manliest has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Manliest thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Manliest goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Moreno rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Manliest's guard! Nice work there by Moreno!

Manliest has his foot on Moreno's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moreno works his way back into a safe position though.
Moreno advances position into side control!
Moreno advances to mount.

Manliest working to try and regain half guard.
Moreno looking to control and managing it successfully.

Moreno avoids the attempt from Manliest to control.

Moreno looking to secure an arm triangle but Manliest defends it well.

Moreno goes for an armbar but Manliest turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Manliest.
Moreno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Manliest is looking to work some ground and pound but Moreno has wrist control.

Manliest lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Manliest throwing strikes from guard but Moreno blocks nicely.
Manliest postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manliest postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Moreno is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Manliest, into his guard.

Manliest manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Moreno regains half guard.

Moreno is looking to improve his position.

Manliest is looking for a kimura here.
Moreno has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Manliest is working away from the top position though.
Manliest thows a huge punch but Moreno dodges it nicely.
Moreno is looking to control Manliest's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moreno avoid being mounted?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moreno is concentrating on defense, preventing Manliest from advancing position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Manliest seems to be looking for submissions.
Moreno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Manliest dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Moreno keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Moreno lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Manliest circles away quickly and effectively.
The Manliest seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moreno dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Moreno gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Manliest to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Manliest is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Manliest won't allow Moreno to sweep him here.

Manliest thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Manliest distracts Moreno with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Moreno is adopting a defensive guard.

Moreno is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Manliest defends well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Manliest is in close to Moreno's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Moreno controlling the position.
Moreno keeping full guard, as Manliest tries to pass.
Moreno working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Manliest.

Manliest drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Manliest jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Moreno is trying to keep Manliest in close.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Manliest accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Manliest postures up in Moreno's guard and throws a big left but Moreno blocks it.

Moreno wants to sweep here but Manliest controlling him for the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Moreno is working hard here to advance position.
Manliest advances to half guard.
Moreno is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Manliest's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Manliest's back!
Manliest looking very determined here, making life difficult for Moreno.
Manliest tries to escape but Moreno has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Moreno's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The Manliest has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moreno has managed to slip his arm under Manliest's chin. This could be all over... yep, Manliest is tapping out! Submission win for Moreno.

During a confident post fight interview, Emanoel Moreno thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
