Combate News: Garuda vs Kahn, Yago Steve returns, & More!

Combate, Fight Organization, Rio de Janeiro
Company profile by Chris Karter

DREAM FIGHT: GARUDA VS KAHN | YAGO STEVE RETURNS TO BRAZIL | LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE UNIFICATION BOUT | FORMER SYN CHAMP TAKES ON KUNG FU ZOMBIE | & MORE!

"Hands of Shiva" Mantak Garuda (39-13-1, 3-0 Combate) vs "The Pitbull" Mohammed Kahn (29-8-1, 17-6 Combate) is a Light Heavyweight showdown that Combate fight fans have wanted to see for years. #5 LHW vs #13 LHW. The duo shares a combined 56 knockouts between their 68 wins. Both men often pay their tribute to the Just Bleed gods more often than not, so you can guarantee that this is going to be a bloody fight between two of the top Light Heavyweights in the game.

Former SYN champion Yago Steve (29-10-0) signs with Combate citing lax drug testing as the main incentive. Since finding a permanent home at The Rubber Guard Emporium, a YABAI affiliated gym under manager Mikey C, the Brazilian fighter has amassed a highlight reel of knockouts under the SYN banner. After his last hiccup at Super Nova, "Overthrower" complained about the extensive drug testing he endured leading up to the fight. He now heads home to Rio de Janeiro and his arrival is cheered for by the people of Brazil.

Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (30-14-1) is booked to defend his Combate Light Heavyweight championship against the Blaze Brothers organization's champion Tristan St. Gough (14-6-0) in a title unification bout between both orgs. The two knockout artists are scheduled to collide at Combate 164 and you can expect fireworks out the gate, both fighters vowing to knockout the other.

Former SYN champion "Mista" Ispa Perkele (26-12-2) is scheduled to face "Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo (25-8-0, 9-6 Combate) in the co-main event at Combate 165. These two are arguably the most skilled in the division, both veterans of the fight game, and they face off in a classic striker vs grappler showdown. Perkele has never been submitted in his 40 fight MMA career, but BJW makes a bold claim when he says he'll be the first to submit Perkele inside the cage.

Big announcement from Combate as they sign top Heavyweight prospect Maximilian "The Lion" Bonaparte (15-5-0) to a 5-fight deal. The 245-pound fighter out of Lyons, France, stands 205 cm tall and is a kick-boxing specialist with dynamite in his hands and feet, finishing 14 of his 15 professional fights by way of knockout. Bonaparte is a human highlight reel and Combate brass is beaming in anticipation of his Combate debut; his opponent has yet to be announced, but fans are excited.
