The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Wells, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wells lands with a shot to the body.
Wells throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Conner.
Conner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wells's waist but Wells gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Conner off to one side.
Oooh a lovely combination from Wells sends Conner down but not out. Wells dives into side control looking to finish.
Conner is rocked!
Wells wants to lay and pray for a moment but Conner keeps working.
Conner is still in real trouble! Can Wells finish him?
Conner is looking to reverse the position.
Wells controlling the position from side mount.
Wells tries to move into full mount but can't pass Conner's legs.
Conner seems to have recovered his senses.
Conner is looking to regain half guard here but Wells keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wells misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Conner manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Wells throwing shots but Conner is blocking nicely.
Conner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wells scores with a couple of nice shots.
Wells will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Conner moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Conner looking for a guillotine here but Wells defends easily.

Wells looking to sit in guard and control but Conner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Conner drops back looking for a leg! Wells is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wells manages to kick Conner off! Conner jumps back into Wells's guard.
Conner looks gassed!
Conner has gone for a leg lock! Wells slips out almost immediately though and dives into Conner's guard.

Wells wants to get up but he can't break Conner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Conner is working an open guard so Wells takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Conner shoots for a takedown but Wells saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wells lands with a right and another and another! Conner is in big trouble! Wells lands again and this time it's lights out for Conner! A quality knockout there for Wells.
