The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jensen tries to clinch up. Akiyama throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Akiyama throws a big shot that misses. The fighters circling - Jensen throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jensen thows a body shot but no joy. Jensen fails in his attempt to clinch. A swing and a miss from Jensen. Akiyama is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jensen. Jensen moves in looking to clinch but Akiyama pushes him off. Akiyama misses with a shot to the body and Jensen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Akiyama scores with a jab to the body. Akiyama takes one to the side of the head.

Akiyama throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jensen on the side of the head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jensen connects with a nice short shot to Akiyama's temple. Akiyama taking some punishment here, with Jensen in his half guard. Jensen slips a nice elbow through Akiyama's hands, connecting with Akiyama's forehead. Akiyama wants to get back to his feet.

He's got his arms around Akiyama's waist but Akiyama gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jensen off to one side. Akiyama ducks under a wild hook from Jensen. Akiyama moves out of range of the body kick. A left and a right from Akiyama both land. Nice combination. Akiyama waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Jensen. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Akiyama, as that shot connected.

Jensen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Akiyama takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jens Jensen. Well Jensen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Nice sprawl there from Gracie as springfield shoots in. The fight stays on the outside here - springfield looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gracie punishes springfield's body with a nice straight punch. Gracie tests springfield's chin there with a solid looking shot. springfield thuds his shin into the meat of Gracie's side. springfield fails with the takedown and Gracie counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
