The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wheeler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sokolov, pushing him back against the cage.
Sokolov wants a takedown.
Sokolov prevents the takedown attempt.

Wheeler has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sokolov uses from the top position.
Sokolov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Wheeler controls Sokolov momentarily but Sokolov frees himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sokolov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wheeler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Johnson lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Belfort sprawling to the canvas. Johnson follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Belfort hang on?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Belfort is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnson.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but Belfort is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.

Belfort manages to escape and get back to his feet!

A jab-cross combination lands for Johnson and sends Belfort crashing to the mat! Johnson follows him down to the mat - Belfort regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Velasco drops his hands momentarily and Jameson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jameson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Velasco moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jameson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jameson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jameson.
Jameson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jameson connects with a nice looking jab.

Velasco scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Velasco has hold of Jameson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jameson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Velasco cranks the arm and Jameson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jameson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Silva finds Heister's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Heister flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Silva lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Heister will be OK.
