The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendoza throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vittorino . Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Mendoza tries to clinch up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendoza fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Vittorino looks gassed! Mendoza tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Vittorino manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Vittorino circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendoza closes the distance looking to clinch and Vittorino counters with a shoot takedown. Mendoza fights it but they end up in guard. Mendoza manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vittorino manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendoza tries to close the distance and clinch but Vittorino swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mendoza moves in looking to clinch but Vittorino pushes him off. Mendoza moves to clinch but Vittorino breaks away and Vittorino counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mendoza won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendoza gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Mendoza tries to kick Vittorino off but Vittorino keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Mendoza keeps control of the position for the meantime. Mendoza regains full guard. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Peter Mendoza will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Vittorino is working an open guard so Mendoza takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Peter Mendoza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mendoza throws a low kick but Vittorino moves out of range easily. Peter Mendoza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mendoza fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vittorino shoots in looking for a takedown. Mendoza tries to sprawl out of it but Vittorino keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mendoza manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Vittorino takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Vittorino takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter Mendoza. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mendoza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grunt fails with the takedown and Hawkins counters with a low kick, right behind Grunt 's knee. Hawkins with a poor takedown and Grunt counters with a takedown into side control. The ground and pound from Grunt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Grunt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Grunt wants to control but Hawkins is keeping him busy. Hawkins prevents Grunt from moving into mount. Grunt throws an elbow but Hawkins slips to the side and avoids it well. Grunt content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Hawkins is looking to reverse the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Knarles Grunt will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hawkins trying to control but Grunt is working from the bottom. Grunt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hawkins is one step ahead there. Grunt is trying to keep Hawkins in close.

TBjang takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Good leg kick by Clark there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Joe Clark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. TBjang gets off balance looking for a body kick and Clark counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Clark throws a jab but it's blocked by TBjang. A low kick from TBjang is predictable there and Clark makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Clark lands a nice shot to the body.

TBjang tries to land a sweep but no joy. Clark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Oh but TBjang has switched to an armbar! Clark is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mora scores to the head and body with a nice combination! A low kick from Mora is predictable there and Gatti III counters with a left to the body. Mora looks to clinch and Gatti III counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mora is lucky that one didn't land flush. Mora avoids the head kick by Gatti III.
Mora tries to clinch up and Gatti III counters by clinching up. Gatti III lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Gatti III lands an elbow that stopped Mora in his tracks for a moment. Gatti III lands a left hand that snaps the head of Mora backwards. Mora blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Botanovic moves away. Botanovic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Steel has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Botanovic. Steel swinging wildly here.

Fecchinni trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harrison is trying to control the position but Fecchinni postures up. Harrison isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Fecchinni stacks Harrison on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fecchinni! Harrison tries to get back to half guard but can't. Harrison struggling a bit here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
