The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danielson scores with a hook to the body. Potvin takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. No luck with that takedown attempt from Potvin. Potvin shoots in looking for a takedown but Danielson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Potvin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Danielson misses with a double jab
and Potvin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Potvin. Danielson wants to break the clinch but can't.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clapper tries to clinch up but Capone circles away and keeps his distance. Clapper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Clapper is working for a kimura but Capone is defending it quite comfortably.
Clapper is keen to just control but Capone is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Capone actively working from the bottom here. Capone is looking for a sweep. Clapper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Capone looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Capone connects with a crisp jab. Capone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Uppercuts and crosses smash into Clapper's face. Clapper staggers backwards, shaken. Capone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Clapper moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Rusty Clapper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Clapper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clapper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Al Capone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
