Bowtie goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Bowtie because Barnham was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freuster throws a series of punches but Djigurda avoids them all with ease. Djigurda takes one on the button. Freuster clobbers Djigurda with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Freuster scores with a shot to the body.
Freuster dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Djigurda's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Freuster connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Djigurda scrambles back to his feet. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Freuster slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Freuster lands a nice shot to the body.
Djigurda looks gassed! Djigurda doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Djigurda takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hume is looking to clinch. Hume throws a low kick but it's checked well by Steuermann. Hume throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Hume tries to clinch but Steuermann is having none of it. Hume throws a head kick but Steuermann moves out of range.
Hume defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Steuermann. Steuermann bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Steuermann misses with the ground and pound. Steuermann throws an elbow but Hume slips to the side and avoids it well. Steuermann tries to move to mount but Hume blocks the move with his legs. Hume regains half guard, as Steuermann was trying to land strikes. Nice strikes from Steuermann there.

He's hooked one of Steuermann's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Steuermann's back! Steuermann manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hume's guard. Nice work there by Steuermann.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Steuermann passes easily into side control. Nice work. Hume is trying to improve his position. Conner throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Shanks's jab looks to have found its range, popping Conner under the eye. Conner fails in his attempt to clinch. Conner rushes Shanks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Conner is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Conner scores with a nice hook to the head. Conner tries to stall but Shanks uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Conner has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Shanks with poor footwork there. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Curtis with that takedown attempt. Griffin moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Nice takedown defense from Griffin. No joy for Curtis on that attempt. Griffin has closed the distance and engaged Curtis in a clinch.

Curtis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Griffin to keep the fight standing. Curtis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Griffin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Griffin has Curtis pressed against the cage, preventing Curtis from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Curtis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Griffin gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Griffin can do anything to dispel that myth. Griffin keeping control of the position. Curtis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griffin sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Curtis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Curtis stopping the sweep attempt from Griffin. Griffin pushes Curtis off and gets back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Curtis postures up in Griffin's guard and throws a big left but Griffin blocks it. Curtis won't allow Griffin to sweep him here. Curtis won't allow Griffin to get back to his feet. The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Griffin was stalling too much, according to the referee. Griffin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Griffin bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Griffin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Curtis sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Griffin misses with a kick to the body.
