0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Brown! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kos thows a left - swing and a miss! Kos fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Kos lands an overhand right.
It looks like Andrew Brown has been cut. Kos connects with a body shot. Brown looking to score a takedown here. Kos is defending well but Brown drives through and ends up in Kos's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Brown slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Brown taking a breather here. Brown tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brown moves away. Brown moves out of range as Kos strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Brown closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Brown is trying to work for a kimura but Kos is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Brown. Brown raining down shots from the mount! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brown prevents Kos from getting the reversal. Brown content just to control the position here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brown is working for a guillotine from mount but Kos frees his head quite easily.

Kos's corner calls for a 1-2. Kos obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Brown shoots in looking for a takedown but Kos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brown's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kos drops Brown with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Brown! Kos dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vovchanchyn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hammer circles away quickly and effectively. Vovchanchyn jabs at Hammer's body. Vovchanchyn missing with a left hand there. Hammer was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Hammer slips under a jab from Vovchanchyn. Hammer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Vovchanchyn throws a hook to the side of Hammer's head but Hammer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Vovchanchyn misses with an uppercut. A momentary lapse in concentration from Vovchanchyn enables Hammer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vovchanchyn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Yaj closes the distance and clinches up with Pacioretty, looking for a takedown. Yaj pushes Pacioretty against the cage but Pacioretty circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pacioretty scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pacioretty is trying to control. Yaj wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Pacioretty wants to free his trapped foot but Yaj is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pacioretty is nestled in close to Yaj, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Yaj tries to roll over but Pacioretty keeps him under control. Pacioretty working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pacioretty looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yaj with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Yaj works his way to full guard. Good work. Yaj pushes Pacioretty off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Pacioretty throws a nice looking combination but Yaj bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Pacioretty looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Pacioretty seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yaj does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Yaj wants to improve his position but Pacioretty is controlling well.
Still in half guard, Pacioretty seems content to control. Pacioretty is trying to control the action in half guard but Yaj is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yaj is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pacioretty sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Pacioretty throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pacioretty shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Pacioretty lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Yaj is trying to control but can't.
