1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ro Da Silva! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! ONeal lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Da Silva at a distance.
ONeal shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Da Silva's guard. ONeal tries to free his leg and advance position but Da Silva is retaining full guard. ONeal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. ONeal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Da Silva keeping moving, preventing ONeal from controlling successfully. ONeal is stalling in the full guard. Da Silva controls ONeal momentarily but ONeal frees himself. Da Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. ONeal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Da Silva on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Da Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. ONeal swivels though and keeps the full guard. Da Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. ONeal wants to sweep here but Da Silva controlling him for the moment. Da Silva is fighting to break ONeal's control of his arms but ONeal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Da Silva enables ONeal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Da Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! ONeal stands up from guard. Let's bang!

It looks like Ro Da Silva has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! ONeal fails with the takedown. Da Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Da Silva showed some decent athleticism there. Da Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed ONeal's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Da Silva tries to pass the half guard into mount. ONeal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Da Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Da Silva shoots in and drives through. ONeal sprawls well. Da Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but ONeal swats him away and circles back towards the center. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. ONeal is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. ONeal has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Da Silva can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as ONeal controls the pace. Da Silva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for ONeal! Da Silva wants to control the pace but ONeal is squirming around nicely.

ONeal wants to control but Da Silva is having none of it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. ONeal manages to regain half guard. Good work. Da Silva is looking to take a break and control but ONeal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Da Silva is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for ONeal!

Ro Da Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shaquille ONeal is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Da Silva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santan shoots in and gets a takedown into Dicni's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Santan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dicni has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santan has managed to get both his arms back between Dicni's legs - danger averted. Santan passes Dicni's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dicni looking for submissions off his back. Dicni is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santan pulls his head out easily. Plimpton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage. Smith takes an elbow to the forehead. Smith has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Plimpton after a bit of a struggle. Smith looking for a takedown. Plimpton lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off.
It looks like Aaron Smith has been cut. Plimpton lands an elbow that stopped Smith in his tracks for a moment. Plimpton comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Plimpton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smith moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Plimpton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Smith stands up over Plimpton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Smith lands a couple of elbows. Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. 13 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Menezes! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Grady scores with a takedown into Menezes's guard. O Grady stops Menezes from standing up. O Grady throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as O Grady accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Menezes can do anything to dispel that myth. O Grady stays in close to Menezes's body and controls the position. O Grady trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. O Grady throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Menezes works some decent striking defense from the bottom. O Grady trying to control but Menezes is working from the bottom. O Grady postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. O Grady sitting in guard here, content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Richie O Grady has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. O Grady lands a leg kick that knocks Menezes off balance momentarily. O Grady fails miserably with a takedown attempt. O Grady is looking to take this fight into the clinch. O Grady tries to clinch there but Menezes circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O Grady misses with a wild body shot. O Grady tries to score a power double leg takedown but Menezes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten O Grady somewhat. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. O Grady closes the distance and pushes Menezes back into the cage. Menezes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

O Grady is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Menezes looks winded! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! O Grady lands a knee to the body.

O Grady lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Menezes goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. O Grady in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from O Grady are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Menezes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Grady. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. O Grady creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Menezes sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. O Grady working the head and body with strikes. O Grady controlling the position. O Grady throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! O Grady throws an elbow but Menezes slips to the side and avoids it well. Menezes taking punishment in the form of punches.

Richie O Grady dominated that round. The cut man is working on Charles Menezes's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A lazy left from O Grady finds it's target. O Grady tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No luck with that takedown attempt from O Grady. O Grady is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Menezes can do to turn this around? O Grady shoots and misses and O Grady takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. O Grady throws a half hearted mid kick. O Grady looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Menezes is fending him off so far but O Grady persists. Nope, Menezes circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richie O Grady. That's going to take a lot out of him. O Grady throws a left that rocks Menezes and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! O Grady dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Menezes regain composure!

That's one minute gone in the round. O Grady lands a strong strike to the head of Menezes. That's dazed him! O Grady looking to finish here. Menezes is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - O Grady lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
