It looks like Rick Sampson has been cut. Sampson is breathing heavily. Sampson shoots for a takedown but Graves saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Graves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sampson. Graves scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Graves looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Horrible takedown attempt by Sampson or perhaps it was just good defense by Graves, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sampson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Rick Sampson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sampson gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Graves gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Sampson is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Brown has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Death Valley Training Facility in the buildup to the fight. Bill closes the distance and pushes Brown back into the cage. Brown has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bill clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Brown has the hooks in. Bill is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A lull in the action here.
Brown gets his hands free as Bill looks to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bill is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Parisyen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Parisyen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kawai misses with a combination
enabling Parisyen to counter with a crisp jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kari Parisyen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Kawai gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Parisyen to score an easy takedown into full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
