The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sane's jab looks to have found its range, popping Leite under the eye. Leite shoots in looking for a takedown but Sane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Leite's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Sane tries to counter by clinching up but Leite breaks away and moves out of range. Leite is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sane sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sane is looking to counter punch. Justin Sane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Sane was covering up waiting for the punch and Leite finishes the takedown easily into guard. Leite tries to free his leg and advance position but Sane is retaining full guard. Sane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leite on the ground. Sane being controlled here, momentarily. Sane keeping moving, preventing Leite from controlling successfully. Leite pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sane is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Leite tries for a kimura but Sane is defending well. Leite wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sane keeps working. Leite just content to control the position. Sane tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Leite wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Leite wants to control but Sane is keeping him busy. Sane prevents Leite from improving position. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Leite working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Leite is looking to take a break and control but Sane is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leite working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Leite trying to control the action but Sane is working from the bottom. Leite has hold of Sane's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sane tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Leite cranks the arm and Sane screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sane, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snow swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Snow scores with a crisp jab that stopped Disgracie in his tracks. Snow lets loose with a powerful body kick. Disgracie will feel that in the morning. Snow uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Snow works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Snow defending well as Disgracie loads up on a big left hand. Disgracie throws a nice looking combination but Snow bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Snow thinks about the counter body kick. Snow has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Disgracie is landing a low percentage of strikes. Disgracie misses with a wild body shot. Disgracie lands a nice shot to the body.

King Jr kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is MLK tribute. Tariaksuq is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tanya Tagaq - Uja. King Jr has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. This should be fireworks!

After winning the bout, Issumatar Tariaksuq thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Jung throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Smith's body to avoid the submission. Smith has instead reached around Jung's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Smith arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Pain is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pain's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Pain stands up from guard. Let's bang! Pain lands with an uppercut that bounces Gonzalez off the cage and back into range. Pain tries to clinch up but Gonzalez circles away and keeps his distance. Gonzalez scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Tapio Valo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Valo wants to slow Siffredi down by chopping away at his legs. Valo has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Siffredi is landing a low percentage of strikes. Valo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A shot to the body from Valo misses and Siffredi counters with a lovely shot to the body. Valo lands a body shot.

Kontio closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kontio lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kontio throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vermeer works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kontio trying to control but Vermeer is working from the bottom. Kontio passes Vermeer's left leg - he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vermeer controlling the position for now. Vermeer makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kontio doesn't succeed with the takedown and Vermeer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kontio changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vermeer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kontio looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kontio tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Vermeer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kontio on the ground. Kontio happy to just control the position for now. Kontio sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Vermeer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kontio is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Kontio in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vermeer can't do much from the bottom here. Kontio is looking to take a break and control but Vermeer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kontio might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vermeer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Vermeer is looking for a sweep. Vermeer sneaks out the side door and pushes Kontio away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vermeer slaps away a takedown attempt from Kontio, before circling back to the center of the mat. Alexander Vermeer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pyry Kontio. Kontio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Vermeer counters with a left to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kontio has his takedown stuffed and Vermeer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kontio tries to keep at a distance but Vermeer has taken the fight into the clinch. Vermeer lands with a short shot to the head. Kontio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vermeer just stands there and leans against the cage. Vermeer lands a right hand. Kontio tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vermeer smiles and moves away.
Kontio's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Vermeer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kontio scrambles back to his feet. Vermeer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kontio momentarily.
Vermeer scores with a decent looking hook. Kontio misses with a takedown attempt and Vermeer counters with a stiff right hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kontio misses with a takedown letting Vermeer counter with a right hand.
Kontio is rocked! BAM! Vermeer delivers a spinning backfist that drops Kontio like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

A less than humble Alexander Vermeer misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potter drives through and clinches with James against the cage.
James blocks an uppercut.
Potter misses with a short punch on the inside. A short uppercut from James. A head punch on the inside from Potter fails to land. Potter lands with a short shot to the head. I was talking to Potter's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Potter lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down James. James blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

It looks like Peter Potter has been cut. Potter misses with some punches.
Potter throws a punch but it's blocked by James. James looks to throw an elbow but misses. Potter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. James manages to break the clinch.
James has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. James takes a jab right on the kisser.
A jab from James misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Potter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Potter throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. James's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and James duly obliges. Potter moves to clinch but James breaks away and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. James lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Potter goes down and covers up as James starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick James! Rick James is the new welterweight champion! After winning the bout, Rick James thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
