The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kontio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vermeer's waist but Vermeer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kontio off to one side.
Kontio closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kontio lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kontio throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vermeer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kontio changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vermeer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kontio tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Vermeer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kontio on the ground.

Kontio is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
