Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 22 - 3, fighting out of Sydney, Ray Finkle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Average Joe! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Joe.
Joe on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Joe throws a big shot that misses. Finkle misses with a body shot.
Joe throws a shot from downtown. Finkle moves away and avoids it. Finkle lets loose with a powerful body kick. Joe will feel that in the morning. Finkle throws out a loose jab but Joe uses good head movement to avoid it. Finkle with a nice cross. Joe cracks Finkle with an open hand slap. Joe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Finkle lands with a hook. Joe tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Finkle checks a low kick from Joe. Finkle misses with a wild combination.
This has been an exciting period of action! Joe walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Finkle fails to land with a series of punches.
Finkle misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Finkle throws a hook but Joe avoids it easily. Finkle cracks Joe with an uppercut from hell and Joe crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Finkle's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Joe is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe controlling Finkle's posture. Finkle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Joe is keeping the position for now. Joe can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Finkle controls the pace. Joe pulls Finkle in to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Finkle showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Joe looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Finkle fails to land with a series of punches.
Finkle walks forward, straight into a front kick from Joe. The fight stays on the outside here - Joe looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Finkle with a jab. Nice shot by Joe. Joe ducks straight into an uppercut from Finkle and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Joe manages to regain guard straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Finkle trying to control but Joe is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Finkle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Joe wants to get back to his feet but Finkle is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Finkle sitting in guard, not really doing much. Joe is looking to stand up but Finkle isn't so interested in that idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Finkle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Finkle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Finkle's corner calls for a 1-2. Finkle obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Ray Finkle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Finkle takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Finkle slaps away a takedown attempt from Joe, before circling back to the center of the mat. Joe lands a nice shot that snaps Finkle's head back.
Joe gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Finkle gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Joe is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanson takes the fight into the clinch. Hanson is looking to take this one to the mat. Kind breaks the clinch.
Hanson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hanson connects with a jab. Hanson gets a clinch. Kind working aggressively here.
Kind tries to work over Hanson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hanson blocks an uppercut.
Kind lands a hook to the side of the head. Kind fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kind manages to break the clinch.

We've been informed that Kind has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Kind uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hanson. Kind doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hanson cracks Kind with a right hand to the side of the head. Hanson fails to land with a series of punches.
Hanson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rikkard Hanson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hanson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Hanson is looking to wear down Kind with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hanson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kind was well out of range. Poor timing from Hanson. Hanson tries to close the distance and clinch but Kind swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kind let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Hanson has been working on his balance at LOD Gym of the Gods, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Kind. A slow jab from Hanson misses its intended target. Kind throws out a counter right but Hanson avoids it with no problem. Hanson scores with a jab. Kind acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Kind throws a body punch but Hanson moves out of range. Hanson swings widly with a right hand

and Hanson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kind waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hanson. Hanson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Kind clobbers Hanson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kind dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hanson looks to score with a jab to the body but Kind is just out of range. Kind steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hanson. Kind takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A jab lands there for Kind. Hanson looking to score a takedown here. Kind is defending well but Hanson drives through and ends up in Kind's guard. Kind trying to keep a closed guard but Hanson is proving a slippery customer.
Hanson slips nicely into half guard. Kind regains full guard. Nicely done. Hanson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hanson wants to pass the guard but Kind is keeping the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kind is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kind stopping the sweep attempt from Hanson. Kind trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Kind counters with a huge left! Hanson is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kind isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Hanson from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kind!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Head scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Head ducks down and throws a hook to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Head. Small does a little dance to reset his feet. Head throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Small drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Head defends it well. Small lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Small closes the distance and clinches up with Head, looking for a takedown. Small pushes Head against the cage but Head circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Small looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Head fires out a quick counter leg kick but Small just manages to avoid it. Head is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Head misses with a wild body shot. Head throws a body shot but no joy. Small jabbing away but nothing is landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Head misses the body punch and Small counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Head misses with a body shot.

Small displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Head throws out the jab. Small throws a good cross that connects.

Small throws a jab but it's blocked by Head. A momentary lapse in concentration from Head enables Small to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Head manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Head is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Head working for a triangle but Small defends it easily.

Head is positioning himself well to prevent Small advancing to mount. Small trying to control from Head's half guard. Head has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Small content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Small with a nice head shot there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Head is retaining full guard. Head is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Head is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Small is aware though and is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Head is looking to wear down Small with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Head thows a leg kick but Small checks it and Small counters with a stiff right hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Small tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Head defends well and Small ends up having to push Head into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Left hook, right uppercut from Small. Excellent takedown into side control there by Small.

Small is putting a hurting on Head here, landing some big shots from side control. Head is looking for a sweep. Head is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at The Skating Rink, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Small wants to lay and pray for a moment but Head keeps working. Head is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Head sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Garrick Head has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Small winds up and cracks Head with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Small has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Head tries to get to full guard but Small has control of the leg. Small wants to lay and pray for a moment but Head keeps working. Head wants to get back to full guard. Small seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Small connects with a nice short shot to Head's temple. Dixie Small is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Head is staying active underneath Small, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Small is figuring out what he wants to do next. Small is looking to take a break and control but Head is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Head tries to roll over but Small keeps him under control. Small performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Head actively working from the bottom here. Small tries to pass the half guard into mount. Head knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Head is looking to control Small's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Head avoid being mounted? Head looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Dixie Small comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Small has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

It looks like Duke Nukem has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nukem pulls Karelin in to control the position. Karelin wants to stand but Nukem is controlling his posture from full guard. Nukem pulls Karelin in to control the position. Karelin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nukem working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karelin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karelin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Nukem utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Duke Nukem. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nukem, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
