Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Ross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jiu Jitsu! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jitsu throws a series of strikes that have Ross backpedaling.
Ross throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jitsu's waist but Jitsu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ross off to one side. Jitsu changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. A head kick misses from Ross. The fight stays on the outside here - Ross looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jitsu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jitsu moves out of range as Ross throws a body kick.
Ross cracks a nice hook into Jitsu's ribs. Ross will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jitsu drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ross defends it well. Ross lands with a nice body punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ross closes the distance and pushes Jitsu back into the cage. Ross manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jitsu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jitsu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jitsu wants to pass the guard but Ross is keeping the position. Jitsu controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Ross wants to stand but Jitsu is controlling the position. Jitsu stands and throws Ross's legs to the side, diving into side control. Jitsu trying to control the action but Ross is working from the bottom. Ross wants to get back to his feet but Jitsu drags him back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jitsu has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ross! Ross keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jitsu lands a couple of good shots and Ross has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Jitsu has managed to slip his arm under Ross's chin. This could be all over... yep, Ross is tapping out! Submission win for Jitsu.

0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinsuke Nakamura! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakamura takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. The fighters circling - Werdum throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Nakamura takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Werdum feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nakamuras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Shinsuke Nakamura has been cut. Nakamura avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nakamura gets in close and instigates a clinch. Werdum fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Werdum gets control of Nakamura's arms and successfully pulls guard. Werdum will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Nakamura sitting in guard, not really doing much. Werdum wants to stand up but Nakamura is controlling him. Werdum is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nakamura won't allow Werdum to sweep him here. Nakamura is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Nakamura advances position into side control! Werdum definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Werdum wants to get back to his feet. Werdum can't do much from the bottom here. Nakamura lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Werdum taking punishment in the form of punches.
Nakamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Werdum. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nakamura has an Americana. Werdum didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Nakamura is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Nakamura hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Shinsuke Nakamura! A very excited looking Shinsuke Nakamura made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swift throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mike Swift seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Butler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Swift avoids it really well and circles away. Butler checks a leg kick. Swift lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Jake Butler has been cut. Swift will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Swift throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Butler appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Swift lands with a nice body punch. Swift throws a head kick that misses. Swift gets caught flat footed, as Butler shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Butler is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Butler trying to control the position from guard on top but Swift is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Swift really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Butler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Swift swivels though and keeps the full guard. Butler is working hard here to advance position. Butler pushing down on Swift 's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Butler trying to control the action but Swift is working from the bottom. We've been hearing good reports from Butler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Swift fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Swift is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Swift is defending well against a takedown attempt. Butler wants to take the fight to the mat but Swift manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Swift working hard to break the clinch.

Mike Swift is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Swift connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Swift has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Butler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Swift is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Butler has just dragged him back down to the mat. Swift is not content to let Butler control the position. Butler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Butler has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Swift is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Butler yanks on the arm and Swift is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Butler.

Fingaz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Fingaz postures up in Faster's guard and throws a big left but Faster blocks it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fingaz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Fingaz stands up over Faster, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Fingaz with a nice head shot there. Fingaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Fingaz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Faster sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fingaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Fingaz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Fingaz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Faster.
