Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Mayfield (ranked 5709 p4p, 505 weight class) and Evander Kuchinello (ranked 8209 p4p, 598 weight class). The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmichael tries to bum rush Abel with a series of wild strikes but Abel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Carmichael throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Abel on the side of the head.
Carmichael connects with a right hand. Abel shakes it off.
Abel with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Carmichael to score with a decent uppercut.

Abel looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Abel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Abel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Abel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Abel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Abel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Carmichael is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Abel, into his guard.

Carmichael really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Carmichael got a little sloppy there for a moment and Abel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carmichael has managed to get both his arms back between Abel's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sonnen lands a big elbow - Tessin is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Sonnen!
