With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bento Barboza!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Hightower!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barboza throws a body kick that misses
and Hightower counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Bento Barboza has been cut.
Barboza wants to clinch but Hightower slips to the side
and Hightower counters with a leg kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Hightower.
Hightower takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Barboza needs to keep his hands up - Hightower had a free shot at his head there.

Barboza is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Hightower's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Hightower is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Barboza had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Barboza cracks Hightower with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Hightower makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hightower paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Hightower has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Hightower looks to land a right hand but Barboza moved out of range.
Barboza takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hightower feints a jab promting Barboza to slip. Hightower then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Barboza slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Hightower drops Barboza with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Barboza looks back up at him and smiles so Hightower waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Barboza is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Barboza seems to have got his legs back now.
Hightower fakes the body blow, causing Barboza to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Barboza goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

A relieved looking Jason Hightower thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
