Mesquita checks a leg kick. Chris John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. John looks to land a body kick but Mesquita moved away. John tries to close the distance and clinch but Mesquita swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! John tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mesquita cranks the arm and John screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from John, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
