The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maxwell throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Maxwell gets in close and instigates a clinch. Maxwell has Spiderman pressed against the cage, preventing Spiderman from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Maxwell presses Spiderman against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Maxwell is looking to break free of the clinch but Spiderman has double underhooks. Maxwell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maxwell takes the fight into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Spiderman's face as he tries to break the clinch. Maxwell tries to circle away but Spiderman has him pinned against the cage. Maxwell wants to break the clinch but can't.

Maxwell is trying to get back to half guard. Spiderman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Maxwell is trying to buck Spiderman off. Maxwell bucks up and tries to throw Spiderman off but instead Spiderman has got his back! Maxwell tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Chris McAllister seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cardona changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salmoni was covering up waiting for the punch and Fox finishes the takedown easily into guard. Fox won't allow Salmoni to sweep him here. Salmoni will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Salmoni escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar.
