Friday 3rd of Feb and Bloody Fist Fight League takes over the 7000 seat Camden Conference Center for BFFL 38. This one see’s a Middleweight title fight and a huge clash co-main eventing but there is more besides so lets have a look at the whole main card shall we! 265lbs Arnold "Pigeon Scarer" Robinson (14-13-0) vs. Oscar Navarro (12-16-0) The main card begin at Heavyweight and see’s two TKO artists face off against each other. Robinson has put all his efforts into his Boxing to the detriment of his other skills which are very low and could be a worry in this fight. Navarro has a more spread set of stats, backing up Wonderful Boxing with Remarkable Wrestling and a Brown belt he can do most things in the fight world well but its his chin that has let him down in the past (he has been (T)KO’ed 14 times so far) and if there is one man who can exploit that its his opponent here. Robinson may have low Muay Thai, Wrestling and BJJ as I said but he does have Elite Boxing and 14 (T)KO’s under his belt. There is something strange about the record of Robinson though and that is despite his World Class Boxing he too has a terrible record of getting stopped (11 (T)KO’s thus far) and that is something that Navarro can exploit and this may be the time to look for his first submission win using his very superior ground game. With so many TKO wins and losses between them I am highly doubtful this will go the distance but its not easy to say who will win and with the winner possibly getting in the mix there is a lot on the line. I’ll go for Robinson due to his Boxing if he can keep it up on feet, if not then I doubt he has much of a chance. 185lbs Georges "3-D" Auclair (6-3-0) vs. Mikael "Wonderchild" Tronko (8-8-0) Moving down to Middleweight next this one see’s a good ground fighter take on a man who can both stand and grapple. Auclair has pretty weak stand up but has used his Superb Wrestling and Purple belt in BJJ to score 5 submission wins thus far in his career. Tronko has Wonderful Boxing but that’s not his only way to win, despite having almost none existent Wrestling he does have a Purple belt in BJJ and has used that to submit 4 people in the past. Given both men can grapple and submit people this should be a very interesting bout to watch. Its obvious that Auclair is no match on the feet for Tronko and so he will need to get this down which he should have no trouble doing given the disparity in Wrestling skills but once down it is not all so clear. Tronko has shown he is adept at grappling with people and that could spell trouble for his opponent who needs to dominate the ground to get his game plan working to full effect. I expect that Tronko will prefer this to stay up where he can use his Boxing to pick apart his opponent but due to his lack of Wrestling that is not likely to happen for too long and once it hit’s the mat that’s when the action should really pick up. The winner is going to get themselves into the mix somewhere but and I give my advantage to Auclair as he is more specialized as a ground fighter and so may have better secondary skills based around that area of the fight game but I wouldn’t put a lot of money on it at the official bookies! 170lbs Domink "The British Destroyer" Stansbury (7-2-0) vs. Alejandro Torres (4-6-0) Moving to Welterweight now and this one see’s two men fighting for a big prize, the winner I am told gets a contenders fight and if they win that a title shot. Title shots are something that Stansbury knows about, he actually turned one down and took this fight instead! Not sure if he did it because he is so humble he wanted to do more to earn a shot or if he is just not all there in the head but whatever the reason lets look at the key points and see if we can predict a winner. Torres is a young guy with ok skills but nothing you’d shout form the rooftops about but after a very poor start he ahs really come into his own since joining BFFL. Its looking like it may come down to where the fight is contested, on the feet its Torres who has a clear advantage (Respectable/Competent vs. Abysmal/Abysmal in terms of Boxing/Muay Thai) and that is something that Stansbury won’t want any part of, it’s the ground where he has the best chance of winning. Wrestling and BJJ are both in his favor (Superb/Purple vs. Mediocre/Blue) and his history says he can sure finish on the mat given his 4 submission wins so far. To be honest I just can’t really see Stansbury losing this one unless Torres s able to core a quick finish on feet, if he is taken down I think he gets submitted but there is no definite in this game so I encourage everyone to check it out for themselves. 185lbs Ivan Drakkar (5-2-0) (Champion) vs. "The Pineapple" Jason Lee (18-15-0) Co-Main Event of the night comes in the Middleweight division and see’s the champ Drakkar making his 3rd title defense since taking the belt. Lee may have had just 1 fight in BFFL thus far but he has already gotten himself a shot at the title (I won’t accuse Mike Tycoon, his manager and the games owner, of any underhand dealing in this lol) and he does have an impressive set of skills that could well see him take the belt at his first try. Drakkar is very much a stand up fighter, with his Strong Boxing and Wonderful Muay Thai he has been very dominate since he entered BFFL and he has plenty of time in his career to get better too. Lee is a more all round fighter Remarkable Boxing is backed up with Superb Muay Thai, Strong Wrestling and a Purple belt meaning other then the Muay Thai he has a clear advantage in all stats over the champion (Drakkar has Respectable Wrestling and a blue belt). Experience also goes to Lee who at 29 years old can trace his roots back to the very early days of the game (fighter #ID is 222 after all) but there has been shifts happening towards the younger guys outclassing their forbearers so this is not a sure fire win for Lee by any means. Drakkar has to make sure he fights his fight and doesn’t get drawn into fighting the way his opponent wants to if he is to keep his belt and to be honest I would put my money on him at the bookies to retain, although do remember I have lost more then I have made betting in the past! Should be a good fight though going by the past fights in both men’s histories. 265lbs "Touchy" Johnny Ives (14-2-0) vs. "The Thai Guy" Big Mel Manhoef (9-2-0) Main Event time and this one is befitting of any event. We’ll start with Manhoef, he is just coming off losing his title but that will do little but motivate him to earn a rematch I’m sure and seeing how he has used his Sensational Muay Thai in the past you wouldn’t bet against him bouncing back quickly from the disappointment but you have to take one thing into account and that’s the man standing opposite him in this main event. Ives is making his BFFL debut and he is a monster of a man. After going 14-0 at Super Heavyweight he dropped down a division but has had a little trouble so far adjusting but with a few fights under his belt at this weight I’m sure he is more settled and ready for a new dawn and why not. He has Wonderful Boxing, Muay Thai and Remarkable Wrestling with a Blue belt in BJJ making him a dangerous man to fight especially when you have just Respectable Boxing like Manhoef. Like many fights before it this is going to depend who can dominate the fight early and control the action, its obvious that Manhoef will want to use his Muay Thai in the fight, its his main weapon and has brought him plenty of success so far but he may find it harder then usual to get a Clinch given how good Ives is and if he can’t get a Clinch it leaves him open to the Boxing attack of his opponent. I doubt either fighter will look for a takedown, their Wrestling and BJJ Is mostly used for defense so its looking like a very exciting stand up brawl to look forwards to and with both men needing a win they will both be going all out for it I’m sure. Predication? Well I have a sneaky suspicion that Ives could well make a victorious debut but don’t quote me on that! And that’s it, another event goes by and we just wait to see what happens. I encourage everyone to spend a bit of money, if you have some free cash, at the official bookies for the event. But that’s it for me, there is just one thing left to say and that is I’m Kurt Hustle saying stay safe and keep fighting!
