Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chung Woo Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rasheed Al Malik! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Al Malik rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lee moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Malik's waist but Al Malik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side. Al Malik stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Al Malik wants it to stay on the feet. Lee gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Al Malik counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chung Woo Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Al Malik tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.
Lee has closed the distance and engaged Al Malik in a clinch.

Lee was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Lee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Al Malik circles away. And Al Malik tries to counter it with a takedown but Lee pushes his down on his head and steps out. Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet. Lee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Al Malik sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Al Malik tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Lee misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Al Malik.
Lee darts in and clinches Al Malik up against the cage. Lee jumps guard but Al Malik turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Al Malik is pressed up against the cage. Lee has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Al Malik down to the mat. Al Malik avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Al Malik is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Al Malik circles away and we're back to standing. Lee is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Al Malik darts in looking for a takedown but Lee gets double underhooks and turns Al Malik into the cage. Nice takedown defense from Al Malik. No joy for Lee on that attempt. Al Malik has a takedown stuffed. Al Malik fails to land the takedown. No luck for Al Malik with that takedown attempt. Lee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Al Malik counters with a left and a right that stings Lee. Lee fails to land the takedown. Lee takes the fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee breaks the clinch.
Al Malik fails with a takedown attempt. Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lee dives in and grabs Al Malik's left leg, looking for a takedown. Al Malik pushes down on Lee's head and hops out. Al Malik is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Al Malik circles away from the clinch attempt and Al Malik connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chung Woo Lee dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Al Malik pushing down on Lee's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Al Malik on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Malik is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position. Lee holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Malik stands up and beckons Lee to join him on the feet. Lee gets the takedown into side control. Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Al Malik can do to turn this around? Al Malik struggling a bit here. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Al Malik is trying to improve his position. An elbow from Lee crashes against the mat.
Al Malik sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Al Malik has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lee thows a huge punch but Al Malik dodges it nicely.

Lee keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Al Malik trying to control from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Al Malik is looking to clinch. Lee seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Al Malik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Al Malik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Lee seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Chung Woo Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rasheed Al Malik. Al Malik fails to land the takedown. Lee darts in and clinches Al Malik up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Al Malik tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A short uppercut from Lee. Lee has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Al Malik avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Lee jumps guard and drags Al Malik to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Lee has control of Al Malik's left arm, preventing Al Malik from doing any damage. Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Al Malik can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Al Malik is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lee holds on and takes a little breather. Lee working a defensive guard but Al Malik passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lee wants to control but Al Malik is keeping busy and won't allow it. Lee is looking to improve his position.

Lee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Al Malik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lee somewhat. Lee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Al Malik just stands there and leans against the cage. Lee is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Al Malik to keep the fight standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Al Malik smiles and moves away.
Al Malik tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance. Lee takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Some bone on bone action there as Lee checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Lee keeps the fight on the outside. Lee blocks the body kick.
Al Malik shoots in looking for a takedown. Lee tries to sprawl out of it but Al Malik keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. As Al Malik looks to move away, Lee throws a big counter combo but Al Malik just gets out of the way. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Al Malik shoots in but Lee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Rasheed Al Malik. Well Lee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
