PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Green (ranked 4428 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Ripper (ranked 4531 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Ripper!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green tries to clinch up but Ripper circles away and keeps his distance.

Ripper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Green napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ripper gets to mount! Green was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Green is bucking up trying to escape but Ripper cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


It looks like Tom Green has been cut.
Green tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ripper lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Green hang on?
Ripper lands a couple of good shots and Green has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Ripper looking to break Green's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Green remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ripper will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ripper biding his time, controlling Green.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ripper's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Green is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ripper seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Green's chin but Green turns very nicely into Ripper's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Green.
Ripper is striking from the bottom but Green uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Green seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ripper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ripper moves into full guard.
Ripper has Green pulled in close to control his posture.
Ripper is looking to stand back up but Green counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ripper.
Ripper gets full guard.

Ripper pulls Green in to control the position.
Green trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ripper's guard.
Ripper seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Green stops Ripper from standing up.
Green knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ripper on the ground.
Green looking to pass the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ripper wants to sweep here but Green controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ripper pulls Green in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Green throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ripper leaves Green with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Green bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Ripper dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tom Green's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ripper shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ripper was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ripper in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Ripper is chipping away with strikes.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jack Ripper has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Green can't do much from the bottom here.

Ripper looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ripper is chipping away with strikes.
Ripper wants to stand but Green has his arm trapped.
Ripper works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ripper content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Green is looking to regain half guard here but Ripper keeps moving and retains side control.

Ripper tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ripper working away.

Green is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ripper is controlling him well.
A control attempt from Green but he's now mounted!
Green taking shots to the head.
Ripper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ripper sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ripper avoids the attempt from Green to control.

Ripper is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Green has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Green!
Green trying to control the position from guard on top but Ripper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ripper is looking for a triangle but Green pushes his legs off easily.
Ripper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Green manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ripper looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Ripper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Tom Green's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Ripper drives through and clinches with Green against the cage.
Ripper tries to work over Green's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Ripper drags the fight down to the ground.
Ripper has control of Green's left arm, preventing Green from doing any damage.
Green with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Green drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ripper dives on top into guard.

Green wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ripper working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Green's head.
Ripper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ripper advances position into side control!
Green is being controlled here.
Ripper wants to stand but Green is controlling his arm.
Ripper content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ripper wants to stand but Green has his arm trapped.

Ripper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ripper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ripper controls the position from side control.
Ripper scores with a couple of short elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Green takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ripper works to advance to full mount. Green defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
BOOM! Ripper connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ripper sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Green keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Ripper stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Green shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ripper sprawls well. Ripper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Green gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ripper.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Green is being controlled here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tom Green has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jack Ripper is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ripper scores with a couple of short elbows.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Ripper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ripper winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
