The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akhmadov gets a takedown into half guard.

Tran is looking to escape.
Akhmadov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Tran thows a leg kick but Akhmadov checks it

Akhmadov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tran for as long as he can get away with.
Akhmadov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akhmadov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Akhmadov.

Akhmadov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Tran has had enough of the clinch but Akhmadov keeps him there for the moment.

Tran's coach down at Brotherhood MMA (16 ELITE COACHES) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tran's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Akhmadov is trying to drag Tran to the mat but Tran just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Akhmadov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tran paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tran lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Quang Vi Tran is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Akhmadov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Tran is breathing heavily.

Tran gets caught napping as Akhmadov dives in and scores a takedown. Tran manages to retain guard.
Akhmadov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tran can do to turn this around?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
