Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Wyadd (ranked 1825 p4p, 221 weight class) and Barry McCockiner (ranked 2152 p4p, 254 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Danny Wyadd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry McCockiner! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCockiner throws a body punch but Wyadd moves out of range. McCockiner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wyadd. McCockiner lands with a straight right. Wyadd didn't see that one coming. McCockiner connects with a body shot that sends Wyadd's belly button to the back. Wyadd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCockiner tries to avoid it but Wyadd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCockiner to the ground. McCockiner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wyadd shoots in for a takedown but McCockiner shows good takedown defense. Wyadd shoots in and gets a takedown into McCockiner's guard. Wyadd has gone for a leg lock! McCockiner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wyadd's guard. McCockiner is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCockiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wyadd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyadd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCockiner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McCockiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wyadd swivels though and keeps the full guard. McCockiner's corner is telling him to maintain position. McCockiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wyadd swivels though and keeps the full guard. McCockiner passes Wyadd's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCockiner content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McCockiner's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. McCockiner passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Wyadd! McCockiner controlling the position easily from mount. Wyadd is trying desperately to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCockiner controlling his opponent. Let's hope that McCockiner has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Wyadd gets back to half guard. Wyadd is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McCockiner pulls his head out easily. McCockiner prevents Wyadd from standing back up.
Wyadd actively working from the bottom here. Wyadd is pressing down on McCockiner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCockiner looking to control the position here, rather than advance. McCockiner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wyadd can't keep his opponent in guard - McCockiner advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Wyadd looking for a kimura from the bottom but McCockiner passes into side control! Wyadd tries to improve position but can't. McCockiner controlling the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McCockiner trying to control the position but Wyadd is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCockiner pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Wyadd looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nice sprawl there from McCockiner as Wyadd shoots in. McCockiner appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. McCockiner scores with a punch to the head. McCockiner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wyadd. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Wyadd. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCockiner connects with the punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCockiner misses with a low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wyadd shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCockiner but McCockiner pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wyadd shoots in and bounces McCockiner off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. McCockiner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. McCockiner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wyadd is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. McCockiner pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wyadd is keeping the position for now. Wyadd keeping moving, preventing McCockiner from controlling successfully.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCockiner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. McCockiner controls the pace of the fight for a moment. McCockiner postures up.
Wyadd tries to land a sweep but no joy. McCockiner stays in close to Wyadd's body and controls the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Wyadd changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McCockiner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCockiner keeping his opponent close. Wyadd fails to land a wild elbow strike.
McCockiner wants to control but Wyadd postures up. Wyadd stands up and we're back to a striking position. McCockiner swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Wyadd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCockiner tries to avoid it but Wyadd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCockiner to the ground. McCockiner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wyadd fails with the takedown. Barry McCockiner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Danny Wyadd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wyadd closes the distance and clinches up with McCockiner, looking for a takedown. Wyadd pushes McCockiner against the cage but McCockiner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McCockiner bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wyadd's head backwards. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCockiner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wyadd.
Wyadd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Wyadd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McCockiner's waist but McCockiner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wyadd off to one side. Both fighters are breathing heavily. McCockiner works the jab nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyadd misses with a takedown attempt and McCockiner counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. McCockiner scoring well with a low kick there.
McCockiner scores with a push kick. Wyadd takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. McCockiner buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wyadd tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCockiner swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wyadd uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McCockiner.
McCockiner fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wyadd. Wyadd misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. McCockiner appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Wyadd shoots in and bounces McCockiner off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McCockiner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wyadd is one step ahead there. McCockiner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wyadd trying to control the position from guard on top but McCockiner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McCockiner controls Wyadd momentarily but Wyadd frees himself. McCockiner is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from McCockiner. Danny Wyadd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! McCockiner looking for a sweep. Not yet McCockiner, not yet. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wyadd drops back looking for a leg! McCockiner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCockiner manages to kick Wyadd off! Wyadd jumps back into McCockiner's guard. McCockiner controls Wyadd momentarily but Wyadd frees himself.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Wyadd shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McCockiner defends it nicely. Wyadd shoots for a takedown but McCockiner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. McCockiner bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. McCockiner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McCockiner explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. McCockiner looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Barry McCockiner seems to be getting the better of the standup. McCockiner keeps the fight on the outside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCockiner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Wyadd counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wyadd shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wyadd is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McCockiner lands a leg kick that knocks Wyadd off balance momentarily. Wyadd shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCockiner but McCockiner pushes him off and we're back to square one. McCockiner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wyadd's head. McCockiner connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McCockiner ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Wyadd swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Barry McCockiner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got McCockiner winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
