The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucassen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lucassen wants it to stay on the feet.
McStafferson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

McStafferson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lucassen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McStafferson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McStafferson won't allow Lucassen to get back to his feet.

McStafferson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lucassen sprawls well. He's pushed McStafferson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaz McStafferson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kaz McStafferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Lucassen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McStafferson shoots in looking for a takedown. Lucassen tries to sprawl out of it but McStafferson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lucassen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucassen is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Lucassen lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Lucassen lands with an uppercut that bounces McStafferson off the cage and back into range.
McStafferson goes for a double leg but Lucassen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lucassen continues to drive forward.

Lucassen throws a head kick but McStafferson moves out of range.
Lucassen connects with a good right hand that stumbles McStafferson. McStafferson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McStafferson has his takedown stuffed
and Lucassen counters with a crisp right hand that drops McStafferson! Lucassen lets McStafferson back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
McStafferson is rocked!
McStafferson dives in and scores a takedown into Lucassen's guard.

Oh McStafferson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
