Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grant Dukes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Hackett!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dukes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hackett wants to clinch
and Dukes counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Dukes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hackett did well to prevent Dukes getting side control.

Dukes is working for a kimura but Hackett is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hackett is looking to control Dukes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hackett avoid being mounted?
Dukes is pressing down on Hackett's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hackett is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hackett wants to control the action here but instead Dukes manages to pass to full mount!
Hackett is trying desperately to improve position.
Hackett is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dukes avoids the attempt from Hackett to control.

Dukes goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hackett turns into him and now he's in Dukes's guard.

Dukes is looking for a triangle but Hackett pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dukes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hackett is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dukes has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Hackett is looking to defend but Dukes has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Hackett! Dukes pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Hackett taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Grant Dukes!
