Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gemechu McKraken (ranked 800 p4p, 103 weight class) and Arnfinn Nesset (ranked 252 p4p, 36 weight class). Gemechu McKraken has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gemechu McKraken!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arnfinn Nesset!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKraken looks to land a left hand but Nesset moved out of range nicely.
Nesset is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McKraken with a body shot.
McKraken shoots in but Nesset avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McKraken closes the distance looking to clinch
and McKraken takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McKraken looks to land a right hand but Nesset moved out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - McKraken looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McKraken throws a hook but Nesset blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nesset misses with a straight left.
McKraken looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

McKraken rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nesset moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

McKraken bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nesset is pushing McKraken's head away, looking to escape. McKraken manages to hold on to the position though.

McKraken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nesset is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McKraken has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Nesset is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKraken tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McKraken has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nesset is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
McKraken misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
McKraken in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
McKraken throws a strike aimed at the side of Nesset's head but Nesset avoids it well.
Nesset felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

McKraken seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McKraken is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nesset doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McKraken.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McKraken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nesset but Nesset pushes him off and we're back to square one.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close second round but I would say that Gemechu McKraken will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nesset steps in with a hook that catches McKraken right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Nesset follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! McKraken looks absolutely devastated.

Arnfinn Nesset tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
