16 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Brooksbank! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kenway throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Brooksbank swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kenway throwing a counter right hand but Brooksbank manages to avoid it. Brooksbank doesn't manage to clinch there - Kenway circles away.
We've been informed that Brooksbank has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Brooksbank lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Brooksbank throws a head kick that Kenway semi-blocks.
Kenway slips a jab and a cross from Brooksbank.
Horrible takedown attempt by Brooksbank or perhaps it was just good defense by Kenway, which made it look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooksbank ducks right into an uppercut from Kenway. Brooksbank fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice uppercut there from Kenway. Edward Kenway is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brooksbank lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Brooksbank misses the body punch and Kenway counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kenway lands a big head kick that sends Brooksbank to the canvas! Kenway follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
