The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

I Pivo throws a head punch that misses.

Howard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Howard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Howard circles away from the clinch attempt.
I Pivo tries to bum rush Howard with a series of wild strikes but Howard uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Howard throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Howard scores with a one two! I Pivo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A head kick from I Pivo lands but Howard takes it in his stride.

It looks like Michael Howard has been cut.
Howard definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Michael Howard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Howard is breathing heavily.
I Pivo throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Howard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by I Pivo.
Howard swings away with a leg kick that misses.

I Pivo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Howard tries to kick I Pivo off in order to stand up. I Pivo Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
I Pivo wants to control but Howard is keeping him busy.
I Pivo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Howard's legs.
Howard is not content to let I Pivo control the position.
Howard on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

I Pivo has hold of Howard's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Howard tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - I Pivo cranks the arm and Howard screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Howard, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Nico I Pivo!

After the fight, Nico I Pivo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Michael Howard was interviewed post fight and said 'I apologize to my fans for this defeat, I will continue training hard and come back stronger. '.
