Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Dunkan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ravi Escobar! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escobar lands a right hook to the body.
Escobar looks to score with a jab to the body but Dunkan is just out of range. Escobar throws a lazy right hand but Dunkan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Dunkan slips a straight right by Escobar. Dunkan has a takedown stuffed. Escobar waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dunkan. Escobar throws a series of punches but Dunkan avoids them all with ease. Escobar misses the jab. Dunkan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Escobar. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dunkan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Escobar napping and manages to drive through into side control! Dunkan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Escobar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Dunkan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunkan lands a nice forearm strike. Dunkan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Dunkan in side control lands a decent elbow. Dunkan trying to control the position but Escobar is working away. Dunkan tries for a kimura but Escobar is defending well. Escobar is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dunkan lands a few punches from side control. Dunkan lands an elbow. Dunkan works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Dunkan working the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Escobar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dunkan lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Escobar is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Escobar is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Escobar is still in real trouble! Can Dunkan finish him? We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Escobar can do anything to dispel that myth. Escobar is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Dunkan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dunkan cracks Escobar with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Dunkan immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Escobar is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Dunkan!
