Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aloysius Wiremu (ranked 2585 p4p, 322 weight class) and Evgenii Mamchenko (ranked 2517 p4p, 309 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wiremu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Billy Joel - The River of Dreams. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamchenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Wiremu on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Mamchenko shoots in for a double leg but Wiremu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wiremu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mamchenko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wiremu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wiremu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wiremu!

Wiremu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wiremu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wiremu tries to score with some ground and pound. Mamchenko controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That was a close second round but I would say that Aloysius Wiremu will probably get the nod.
