Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alessio Da Santiago (ranked 3538 p4p, 3988 weight class) and Denis Denisov (ranked 181 p4p, 195 weight class). Alessio Da Santiago had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.

Denisov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Da Santiago's half guard.
Denisov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Da Santiago. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Denisov is taking a breather. Da Santiago says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Denisov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Da Santiago has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Denisov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Denisov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Da Santiago with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Oh Da Santiago is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Denisov lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Da Santiago quite badly. Da Santiago pulls Denisov in close trying to recover. Denisov postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Da Santiago on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Da Santiago doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Denis Denisov!
