PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joey Simone (ranked 1380 p4p, 2312 weight class) and Joseph Telushikin (ranked 203 p4p, 320 weight class). Simone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gucci Mane - Trap God Intro. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Telushikin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Telushikin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Simone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Telushikin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Simone's guard.

and Telushikin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Simone connects with a solid leg kick.
Simone darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Simone misses with a series of wild punches.

Telushikin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Joseph Telushikin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Telushikin throws an overhand right that lands on Simone's shoulder, as Simone tries to avoid the shot.

Telushikin works to advance to full mount. Simone defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I really don't envy Simone right now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Telushikin is taking a breather. Simone says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Telushikin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joey Simone will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Telushikin gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Simone throws a quick inside leg kick.
Telushikin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Simone moves away.
Telushikin has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Simone.

Telushikin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Simone.
Telushikin scores with a hook to the body. Simone takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Simone sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Telushikin's defenses. It connects perfectly with Telushikin's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Joey Simone seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
