PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Philip Ziskie (ranked 337 p4p, 293 weight class) and Koichi Kamei (ranked 44 p4p, 38 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Philip Ziskie has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Philip Ziskie seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Philip Ziskie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Koichi Kamei!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.

Ziskie scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A punch combination from Ziskie misses.
Ziskie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Kamei to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Philip Ziskie has been cut.
Kamei stuffs the takedown.
Kamei is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Kamei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ziskie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Ziskie misses the target.
Kamei looks to throw the jab but Ziskie is out of range.
Jab, jab by Kamei - just one landing.
Ziskie shoots in for a takedown but Kamei shows good takedown defense.

Kamei tries to keep at a distance but Ziskie has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ziskie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ziskie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kamei sprawls well initially but Ziskie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kamei trying to hold on to Ziskie's head to control him but Ziskie postures up.

Ziskie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kamei wants to control the action here but instead Ziskie manages to pass to full mount!
Ziskie trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kamei tries to hold on but Ziskie pushes him away.

Ziskie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kamei is surviving well by controlling Ziskie's body position as best he can.
Kamei really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Kamei sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kamei wants to sweep but Ziskie has passed to side control!

Ziskie is trying to get an arm triangle but Kamei is defending well.
Ziskie tries to advance to mount but Kamei denies him.

Kamei trying his best to control but Ziskie has mounted him.
Kamei is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ziskie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kamei to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kamei shrugs it off.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kamei tries to reverse the position but Ziskie maintains control.
Kamei is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ziskie wants to control the pace but Kamei is squirming around nicely.
We've been hearing good reports from Ziskie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kamei is looking to improve his position but Ziskie isn't that keen on the idea.
Kamei is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ziskie goes for an armbar but Kamei turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kamei.
Ziskie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kamei controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kamei closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ziskie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A little jabbing left from Kamei on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ziskie throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ziskie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kamei swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ziskie cracks Kamei with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ziskie throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Kamei checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Ziskie shoots in looking for a takedown but Kamei manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ziskie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kamei looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kamei scores with a nice right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kamei slips a jab and a cross from Ziskie.
Ziskie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kamei sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Kamei throws a hook to the side of Ziskie's head but Ziskie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ziskie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kamei keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Ziskie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kamei manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ziskie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kamei works the jab nicely.

Kamei feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ziskie sprawling to the canvas! Ziskie rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kamei finish him?!

Ziskie is rocked!
Ziskie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Oh Ziskie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kamei throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kamei steps in with a hook that catches Ziskie right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Kamei follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Ziskie looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Koichi Kamei!
Koichi Kamei really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Urban Fighter logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
