PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Madison (ranked 6850 p4p, 23993 weight class) and Domaydo Cann (ranked 644 p4p, 717 weight class). Madison's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Nipsey Hussle - Victory Lap. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Madison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Domaydo Cann!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.

Cann wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A low kick from Cann misses

and Madison counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Cann pushes Madison off and scrambles back to his feet.
Madison shoots in for a double leg but Cann sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Madison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cann avoids it really well and circles away.
Cann fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cann drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Madison is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cann in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Madison tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Madison throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Horrible takedown attempt by Cann or perhaps it was just good defense by Madison, which made it look bad.
Madison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cann avoids it really well and circles away.

Cann changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Madison tries to avoid it but Cann manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Madison to the ground. Madison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cann closes this distance looking for a takedown but Madison circles away.

Cann shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Madison manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Madison seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Cann is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Madison defends well.

Madison landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Cann tries to reverse the position but Madison maintains control.
Madison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cann on the ground.

Cann shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Madison pinned against the cage. Madison gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Madison throws a big counter combination but Cann scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Cann wants to take a breather but Madison is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Joshua Madison has been cut.

Cann seems to be looking for submissions.
Cann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Madison does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Madison on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Madison tries to get out of the position.

Cann is working for a kimura but Madison is defending it quite comfortably.

Madison avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cann.
Madison wants to control but Cann is keeping busy.
Madison is looking for a sweep. Cann is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Madison is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cann's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cann's back!
Madison is controlling the position but Cann somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Cann has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Madison is working away from the top position though.
Cann looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Joshua Madison overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cann works his way to full guard. Good work.

Cann escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Madison gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Madison seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Cann is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Madison pulls his head out easily.
Cann is looking to improve his position.

Cann throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Madison's waist but Madison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cann off to one side.
Madison shoots in looking for a takedown but Cann manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Madison's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cann is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cann.

Cann has taken the fight to the clinch.

Cann throws his legs up looking for a submission but Madison uses it to pass to side control.
Cann tries to buck Madison off but Madison is having none of it.
Cann takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Madison landing strikes.
Cann is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Madison scores with a couple of short elbows.

Madison wants to stand but Cann is controlling his arm.

Domaydo Cann comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cann has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
