This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 2 losses; Kyle Goose ! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Long Wang! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Goose keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Goose tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wang manages to circle out of the way. Wang closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Goose quickly recovers to half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Goose (0) vs (2) Wang Goose is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wang is looking to take a break and control but Goose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Wang is looking to pass Goose 's guard but actually Goose recovers to full guard.

Wang is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Goose defends it well.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Goose tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wang trying to control the position from guard on top but Goose is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wang's corner is telling him to maintain position. Goose keeping moving, preventing Wang from controlling successfully. Wang passes Goose 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Wang wants to pass to mount but Goose is defending the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wang trying to control the action but Goose is working from the bottom. Wang is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Goose ! Wang looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Wang looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Goose tries to free his leg and advance position but Wang is retaining full guard. Wang tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wang wants to control but Goose passes easily into half guard.

Wang wants to hit a sweep here but Goose passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wang there! Score +3 for passing guard: Goose (5) vs (8) Wang Wang is working to get back to half guard.

Score +3 for taking back: Goose (8) vs (8) Wang You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Wang tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Wang is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Goose takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Wang tries to control the position but Goose now has his back.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Goose is trying to stick to Wang's back but Wang is turning into Goose . He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Goose 's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Wang. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Goose (11) vs (10) Wang Wang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Goose is keeping the position for now. Wang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Wang is looking to advance position but Goose has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Goose (15) vs (10) Wang Goose controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wang sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that's the end of the fight! Goose takes the fight on points by 15 to 10. Kyle Goose decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. The defeated Long Wang had this to say: 'No worries. Everyone here knows my opponent has a bad habit of testing positive for PEDs, so I'm sure this fight will soon be ruled a 'No Contest' by the Athletic Commission.'. |
