Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.

John tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

John throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Talis blocks it with crossed arms.

John throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Talis's head.

As Talis backs off John throws a huge counter combo but Talis manages to avoid it all.
John changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Papa John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Talis moves out of range as John throws a body kick.
Talis tried to counter with a leg kick but John avoided it.
John fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Talis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from John.
Talis fires out a quick counter leg kick but John just manages to avoid it.
John comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from John lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Talis has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Talis and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Talis cracks John with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can John get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. John looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!

Talis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before John can pounce on him.
John throws a hook to the side of Talis's head but Talis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That kick from John tenderised Talis's leg. Talis is trying to keep his angry face on.

Talis lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
John is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Talis is defending well for now.

I was talking to Talis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

and Talis makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. John really felt that one!

John looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Talis thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on John if he has to take too many more of those.
