PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 823 p4p, 1442 weight class) and Herbert Mullin (ranked 109 p4p, 178 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jack Daniels has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack Daniels seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 25 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Herbert Mullin!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

Daniels blocks a low kick nicely.
Mullin slips under a jab from Daniels.
Daniels will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Daniels darts in looking for a takedown but Mullin gets double underhooks and turns Daniels into the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And Mullin responds with a good body kick, but Daniels manages to step out the way in time.

Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mullin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Daniels appears to be looking for a big counter.

and Mullin counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Daniels is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Mullin cracks Daniels with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Daniels looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mullin finish him?
Oh Daniels is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Daniels doesn't manage to clinch there - Mullin circles away.

Daniels lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Daniels looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mullin is fending him off so far but Daniels persists. Nope, Mullin circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Mullin with that takedown attempt.
Daniels wants to clinch up but Mullin keeps it at a distance.

Daniels jumps guard but Mullin stands there with Daniels around his waist. Daniels gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Herbert Mullin seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Mullin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mullin walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Daniels drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Mullin swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Daniels's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Herbert Mullin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
